Many of you have been asking for an update on Mango, the pregnant cat who was abandoned at our location in the early hours of Monday morning.

Unfortunately, we still haven't been able to find Mango or her kittens. We believe she likely didn't stay here because of the barking and activity from our boarding patients, which wouldn't have felt like a safe place for a mother preparing to have her babies.

Our hope is that she made her way along the levee and found either a kind family willing to take her in or a quiet, safe place where she could deliver and care for her kittens.

Thank you to everyone who has been concerned about Mango and has kept an eye out for her. We continue to hope for the best and will share any updates if we have any.

To the people who dumped Mango at our door at 12:30 this morning:

You did this very pregnant mother-to-be no favors.

Had you simply left her safely in the crate, we would have found her when we opened this morning. Instead, by taking the crate with you, you took away her shelter and her best chance at a safe, love-filled future.

You called her a "stray" in the note you left behind, but now she truly is one.

We searched for her throughout the day, calling her name along the tree line, hoping she hadn't gone far. As the hours passed and the skies grew darker, our worry grew, and hope began to fade.

Then, when the torrential rain and flash flooding came, all we could do was pray that Mango found high ground and a safe place where she can be at as much ease as possible to have her little ones.

Just a friendly reminder: if your pet experiences anxiety related to fireworks, now is the time to obtain any necessary refills. We’ve all observed the fireworks stands emerging, so please do not delay.
