Meet Scully!

He’s wrapping up his 3 week board & train and I wanted to share this lil clip from our latest field trip. He’s really come a long way! I feel really good about this one 😊

We worked a lot on his leash walking since a main goal of his owners was to overcome his fear-based reactivity towards strangers. It’s amazing what a little bit of structure, training and consistency does for a dog like him.

This is Scully! He’s here for a 3 week board & train 🤍

He’s here to tackle some behavioral issues that stem from insecurity and lack of boundaries. Scully has a bad habit of lunging at and snapping at passerby’s, which makes walking him EXTREMELY stressful for his much older owners.

Best way to combat these issues? Building a solid foundation of obedience and lots of confidence building!

Scully also loves to bolt out of doorways and force himself out of the kennel when it opens, he’s a force of nature 😂 So we are going to be spending A LOT of time slowing him down and teaching him to think before he acts.

Your dog trainer should be showing you and coaching you through the process just as much as they are with the dog.

YES the dog needs reps. YES the dog may do better with the trainer than you. BUT you live with the dog. You buy the dog’s food and pay for their rent.

YOU as the owner has to learn how dogs learn, what to do to teach the dog, and why it’s important for you to learn these skills.

Dog trainers are not just for the dog. Oh no no no no they are not. You should be hiring someone who can coach you and can help you navigate living with and working with a dog in your home.
