​We are lovingly searching for the perfect, quiet home and one special person for our beautiful mare, Winter (a.k.a. "Winnifred Winter").

​Winter is an absolute sweetheart—a total "in-your-pocket" kind of girl who lives to be pampered! She genuinely loves people and will happily stand for hours to be groomed, bathed, and fussed over. If you've dreamt of a horse that nickers when you arrive and melts while you brush her, she's your girl.

​Why She Needs a Special Home:
Winter is too sensitive for the busy life of a lesson or show horse. She prefers a slower pace—her favorite speed is "mosy," and she happily toodles around at a walk.

Winter arrived to us from a kill pen, and with full transparency, she has shown off-and-on lameness. Our vet suspects navicular changes. Because of this, she is not suited for competitive, heavy work, or showing.

​Her Ideal Partner:
We could see Winter thriving as a first horse project for a junior or amateur new to the horse world. She'd be a fantastic partner for someone who wants to learn the ropes of horse care, grooming, handling, and groundwork, and enjoy very light, casual riding only. Available for lease

Horse: Lena, a 13-year-old Quarab mare (a cross between a Quarter Horse and an Arabian). Would consider sale instead of lease IF it is the right person.

Training/Experience:
Previously trained in Reining and Western Pleasure.
Currently retrained in Dressage and has show experience.

Temperament: Fun, forward, eager, sensitive, and safe under saddle. Wonderful, goofy personality, and good to handle on the ground (clips, loads, trailers well).

Ideal Rider: A growing intermediate rider.

Lease Requirements and Structure
Lease Type: In barn, partial lease only. This means Lena stays at The McNiesh Barns and Stables, and you would typically ride her a set number of days per week.

Discipline: Dressage only for the lease.

Lessons: Weekly lessons are required.
Lessons with the Assistant Trainer are included in the lease fee.
Lessons with the Head Trainer are an additional, separate fee.

Contract: A contract will be required.

Other Opportunities: Showing and trail riding are an option for the right person.

​About this Sweet Girl:
​Winter is a total sweetheart and an in-your-pocket kind of gal. She genuinely loves people and will happily stand for hours to be groomed, bathed, and just generally fussed over. If you’re looking for a horse to pamper and love on, she is 100% your girl.

​We brought her into our program hoping she would enjoy being a lesson horse, but she’s made it very clear that the life of a schoolmaster isn't for her. She is much too sensitive for that kind of work and tells us she would much rather have one special person to bond with.

​Her favorite speed is "mosy." She is happy to toodle around on her own or with someone on her back at a walk, just enjoying the scenery.

​Her Story & Her Needs (Please Read!):
​Winter came to us from an auction in Oklahoma, and our best guess is that she was a ranch trail horse in a previous life.

​Full transparency is very important to us: Winter has shown off-and-on lameness, and our vet suspects she may have navicular changes. Because of this, she is not a show prospect and is not suited for a heavy-work or competitive home.

​Her Perfect Home:
​We could truly see her thriving as a "first horse" project for a junior or amateur who is just getting into the horse world and wants to learn the ropes of horse care.
