Tidbits of Christmas Day board dogs. It was dry this a.m. so hurried out to take advantage of the break until about 11:30. Then the heavens opened with ice rain. Got everyone tucked back in. Late afternoon there was another break so decided to let everyone have another play break. I got such a kick out of Sheba and her playful antics I decided to share the joy. Of course I had to be fair and video each of the pups for their owners. It was a better day than the forecast indicated. I am ready for the rain to stop now though! At least there is no snow. I am so happy about that! Merry Christmas!

T'was the day before Christmas and all through the skies...not a raindrop or snowflake would mar our disguise. We romped and we played with our surrogate Mom then we rolled and got scratches on our furry Tum Tums. Cookies were free on this magical day while we wait for Old Nicklaus and his reindeer drawn sleigh. We were all good pups so no coal in our socks while we wait for tomorrow ....Christmas Time ROCKS!

Captain, Cinder, Sheba and Skye are my guests and companions this year at Lower Lassen K9.

Attention Club Members: It is raining today. I need to work with the Board/Train girl Cinder and her owner so I will be opening the gate for club if you would like to come. Club will be an hour later today starting at 11:00 a.m. instead of 10:00. See you here in rain gear! Addendum: The hourly forecast indicates that there is a possibility that it may just be cloudy during this time. I can't guarantee that is correct but....well see!

Welcome New Customer Ashley with her mixed breed girl Abby. Abby is 3 1/2 years old and will be learning basic obedience along with some rehab. She is super people friendly but is having trouble living with the other smaller dogs in the household. She also never learned to properly walk on a leash so she is missing out on being able to get out in the world. Ashley had done some early training at a box store which she ended up aborting. They had advised the use of a harness for walking or a nose noose. Harnesses are designed for pulling so no surprise that she took Ashley for a walk. Nose nooses are uncomfortable and a gimmick. Lesson one was teaching Abby how to submit to the owner while leash walking. She did well. We will also be addressing her resource guarding with food and toys. Abby has a sweet temperament and is bonded nicely with Ashley. Now she must learn that Ashley is the leader. She is also a tad needy and insecure so the obedience will allow her to relax and trust the handler. I look forward to helping them!

General Information: Board/Train at LLK9 is filled until January 2026. This has been a popular and successful program that has limited availability. I am taking reservations for January 2026. It does require an evaluation prior to acceptance. I personally love this program as I have the opportunity to connect with so many different types of pups. It's sometimes challenging but also extremely rewarding to see the progress when one puzzles through the best way to get results for many different breeds and temperaments.

The indoor training area had been on a bit of a pause with the painting not quite ready. The holiday and many new classes have caused a slight delay but I expect to make some progress in the next couple weeks.

Tomorrow starts out the Advent/Holiday season and Christmas is right around the corner. As with every year LLK9 will offer gift certificates.

Welcome New Board/Train Customer Debbie with her Malinois/mix girl Cinder. Debbie was a customer many years ago with a different dog. Of course all dogs are different so the training will vary. Cinder is 2 years old and will be learning basic obedience and social skills. She is very bonded to Debbie and has an aloof temperament with people. She is also very sweet and has not had a difficult time adapting to boarding here. This was a pleasant surprise and her first day with me went very well. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in her 30 day stay here.
