I cannot express enough about how a versatile horse makes a healthy horse.
In my career I’ve made it a point to learn as many things as I can. I’ve apprenticed with reining trainers, cutting trainers, cowhorse trainers, roping trainers, dressage trainers, c**t starters, farriers & vets for an extended period of time to further my knowledge to be able to give the horses that I train versatility. Whenever I come across a problem with a horse that I myself am having issues with, I start reaching out to the people in other disciplines who may have some different advice. ( Cody Rowe has been my absolute ROCK)
Good training is important, but what’s more important is being able to do not just one thing great, but to do multiple things great and keep you and your horses mind healthy. So many horses get stuck in a program doing the same thing 5-6 days a week which can lead to a very frustrated horse. I’ve had many problem horses sent to me with this issue whether it’s stopping at the jumps, or not wanting to go forward; once I began changing things up the problem went away. For me, any horse and any problem can be fixed with just one day or two of being ranched on. A ranch horse is a focused horse. They have to place their feet correctly, be able to see what’s coming, and move a cow at the same time.
Give your horse the benefit of the doubt always. They’re trying to tell you something. Cheating or cutting the line is not doing what’s right for your horse. That horse will tell on you, whether it’s you or the next person you’ve sent it to.
Be good to your horses, their happiness comes first ❤️if you’re having problems with your horse and want to send them out, make sure to send them to a good qualified trainer. Please always review the trainers performance records to make sure they’re matching up with your goals. This trainer needs to be able to change up the program when needed. Always remember what goes around comes around
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER 👏🏻
