Cosmos first time back in the show ring in almost 2 years! He won the only class we did. Swipe for his winning jump off round! He has been such an amazing boy to develop- truly a willing and thoughtful partner. I’m very lucky to own him and develop him. Going slow with his insane growing process has been the absolute right choice by him. I will always choose the horses wellbeing over “jumping bigger” and “showing bigger”. I want my horses to be happy and live a long happy life and career. 🦄 there is no rush!

Meet client horse Vivian! This incredible 3 year old mare by Riptide out of a tb mare will be for sale next week following her 90 days here at AF Training for c**t starting. A recent situation reminded me why I feel so strongly about honest horse representation, and I think it’s worth talking about.

As a professional trainer, my first responsibility is protecting the safety of both horses and riders.
In my career, I have only ever returned one horse to its owner because I did not believe I could safely continue the horse in my program based on the behaviors I personally observed. That decision was incredibly difficult, but safety has to come before everything else.

Because of that experience, I encourage every buyer to look beyond terms like “kid friendly,” “beginner safe,” “amateur friendly” or “bombproof.” Those labels should reflect a horse’s demonstrated behavior, not just marketing language. There are horses online for sale everyday that are being marketed as something they aren’t. If you’re searching for a horse right now or ever please be careful and always involve a professional in all horse purchases.

Out of respect for everyone’s privacy and professionalism, I will not be identifying the horse, owner, or trainer involved. My intention is not to single anyone out, but to remind buyers to do their due diligence and to encourage honest representation within our industry.

If you’ve worked with me through my consignment program, you know that I believe in complete honesty and transparency when representing a horse. I would rather lose a sale than place a horse in a home where it is not a safe or appropriate fit. My reputation has been built on matching the right horse with the right rider, even when that means having difficult conversations.
