We had and interesting evening at the farm last night. I was unloading my goat grain and typically my girls are screaming at me but it was all quiet. I looked out into the holding pen and all the girls were huddled up by the door not making a peep. I feed Luna Bear her grain separate so I let her out (she’s normal screaming and talking but she was even quiet). I started feeding grain to the other girls but nobody was swarming me and they were staying put and snorting. “I was like what the hell is with you guys”. Then I saw the blood on the dog houses and was like “okay who knocked their scurs off”. I was looking around and there was a bobcat kitten laying under one of my feeder cribs!! It ran, scared the s**t out of me and my goats. I thought it was a cat. Unfortunately, dad had to take care of it(im not much for killing but I can’t risk the safety of my pets)
Unsure of the situation but Tini protected the girls! Her face is pretty beat up but she’s eating and being a bully again. Thank you to her for protecting the herd! Goats are really sensitive to attacks and can go into shock easily. We will be keeping an eye on her. Pictures are a little bloody but it could have been way worse especially if it had been an adult.
