On behalf of all of the WVT crew (Heather Lynn Keller, Alex Lee, and Jenny Trainor) we would like to congratulate all of our students and owners on a phenomenal first show of the year. Every single horse that went into the ring came out with a blue ribbon! We have several first timer riders and a few new horse and rider teams that made their debuts over the weekend.

We want to give a huge shout out to all of our staff and clients for helping make this last weekend possible. With 18 horses, this was not an easy task! We would love to thank our in barn farriers Quentin Gravelle and Lillian Wenham for tagging along and helping keep our horses feet up to the highest standards. We would also love the thank our fantastic team of vets at Oakhurst Equine for taking the best care of our horses possible and to Melissa Shaver for making sure that all of our horses were well adjusted and ready to work.

Here are just a few of our rider’s amazing highlights!

- Taylor Rez and WVT’S Colors of the Wind won their first Championship class

- Lillian Wenham and Scandal at the Ritz won both the Novice Rider class and the Ladies to Ride class. This was Lillian’s first show ever and she absolutely rocked it!!

- Jason Tongue won his first 3 gait class on Bandimere

- Dalaney Clark and High Velocity Jazz won a big Youth Championship class

- Lynne Hilmer and WVT’S Double Trouble made their big debut and worked extremely hard to get ready as a team. They won the 2 gait Open Championship.

- David Green has been working incredibly hard on his horsemanship skills and bonding with his new horse MegaBucks and won several classes on Saturday. We are very proud of him and his dedication!

- Chris Reznicsek and I’m Totally A Princess won the 2 gait AOT Championship

- Lisa Jenkins and Diamond M Bar Maryann won the 2 gait Colored Horse class on Saturday and made it through their first show together without a hitch!

To end the weekend with a bang, two of our top horses won both the 2 and 3 gait BEST IN SHOW classes. Congratulations to Lynne Hilmer on the 2 gait Best in Show and Carolyn Jackson Griffith on the 3 gait Best in Show. Both Sonny and Bandy showed to the best of their abilities and had flawless rides.

We are beyond proud of each and every one of our owners, riders, and horses for giving their all this weekend. We are beyond blessed to have each and every one of you in our program and love you all beyond measure.

Congratulations on such a phenomenal show to each and everyone one of you.

We’ll see you again the first weekend in May! Buckle up for a lot more fun! We’re just getting started 🎉🎉

Not a joke...

Have you ever wondered why you can have a 15 acre field and part of it is chewed down to nubs and the other part has grass a hand high, But your horse is constantly grazing in the chewed down part?

Grass 6 inches and taller has less sugars than grass under 6 inches.

For every inch drop below 6 inches, the fructan (sugar) content rises.

Grass under 6 inches is stressed like it's a Monday morning with a project deadline. It uses sugar to repair itself.

Stop mowing your fields short.

Stop grazing your chubbys on chewed down grass. (this is why grazing muzzles are so touted...they keep the horse from being able to get much short grass)

(We aren't saying let your fields be 3 feet tall, by the way. The optimal thing to do is keep them 6-8 inches tall and graze them in small areas there)

WVT’S Supply And Demand and El Lobo are now standing stud here in the northwest! They both have Impeccable show records and have proven to be both trail to rail with the most natural gaits around.
“Supply and Demand” is a International grand champion and reserve world champion! He was bred and raised here at Willamette Valley Training, LLC and has the sweetest disposition you could ask for.

“El Lobo” is just starting to build his show career here in the Northwest and has been in the blues nonstop. He has multiple babies on the ground that are taking after is solid build and great disposition.

Our goal is to breed the best of the best for trail to rail. Both of these boys are fabulous on the trail as well as in the show ring. These guys were so easy to start and were born walking.

Just a reminder to everyone that wants to say something to Sean! I will be putting the video together tonight!

As many of you know, our beloved Sean E Robertson was in a horrific car accident on December 4th. He is currently on a ventilator and is paralyzed, but is regaining some movement in his hands. The future is still unknown, so all of the prayers and well wishes are needed. Sean is not only our farrier, but also a member of our families. We’ve always said that we had no idea what we would do without him.

This being said, we ask that if you are willing, please make a 5 second (ish) video of yourself wishing him well or whatever you would like to say to him and text it to Heather at 503-758-7511. Please do not let your videos go over 10 seconds. If you also have any pictures of Sean, please send those to Heather as well and we will add them into the massive video compilation that we are going to be making. Please send these to Heather by this Saturday (December 11th).

Thank you and keep those prayers coming!

First time Riding Willamette Valley Training, LLC stud El Lobo and getting blue made my weekend. I call him baby daddy because he is Gents sire. He is such a good boy. He won nearly every class he was in with different riders. Thank you Heather Lynn Keller for letting me ride him. #tennesseewalkinghorse #horseshowinglife #horseshow #horse #stud
Any clinics scheduled for this year?
My little baby fast asleep and snoring. Such a delicate flower. 😂
These 2... they’ve become my heart and soul. Unbreakable bond with both of them. Neo and Trinity (formerly Diesel and Fancy) love their apples, and their dad. We get just as much enjoyment, if not more, out of working with them on the ground and just spending time with them, as we do with our butts in the saddles. Just can’t imagine life without them anymore. 🥰 thank you for adding to our family, Heather and Josh!
Thank you all for your hard work, and huge hearts! You are all hereos in my book! #muchlove

Hi Heather, I am looking for a super smooth gaited horse. Do you have any for sale? I prefer a gelding, 5-7 years old, around 15 hands, confident, smart, and forward. Thanks, Teresa Meredith #253-845-1311
Heather: Huckleberry and I traipsed all over the Metolius Basin today. He crossed water (including a challenging crossing of the Metolius River), went over logs, traveled cross-country through the brush, and was passed by cars and bikes. He gaited and he walked quietly. He led the other horses, he was in the middle, and at the back. And he did it all with flying colors. What a terrific horse. A HUGE thank you to you and Kelly!
Thank you, thank you, Heather, for connecting me with Huckleberry! He's fabulous on the trail, and I feel so lucky to have him.
Hi, just following up. I spoke to you about Dolly who was sold. There was another TWH that may be available. Do you know the age for sure?
Hi, this is Pam, I just spoke with you. I can't seem to get a picture on your site. Can you send me a friend request, and pictures of Alano will show under my photos. Thanks!
Top video was taken back in September. Bottom video was taken today after 30 days with Heather Lynn Keller. She's a totally different mover and we're well on our way.
