Achilles Service Dogs was originally started with the intentions of helping provide qualified service dogs to students with physical disabilities going to college. After our terrible experience with a service dog trainer, and discovering there are no regulations governing who can be considered a dog trainer, our mission has changed. Achilles Service Dogs is now devoting our efforts to help secure

nationwide regulations in regards to service dog trainers. We will help and work with The Dog Knowledge Foundation of Charlotte N.C. in their efforts to provide qualified service dogs.

Did you see Jamie Boll WBTV 's investigation into service dogs? This hits close to home because I first featured the family when they got their dog Achilles. They really needed a service dog for their son, ended up with a $20,000.00 pet they love, but that is unable to do the job! And of course they are all very upset about it. Hard not to get mad.
It's a really important story. I hope you watch it here: https://t.co/cyqv8ncMKn

On Thursday Feb 2 WBTV Charlotte on the 6:00 news is doing a story on the need of changes and regulations for service dogs. Achilles and The Dog Knowledge will be featured. Please watch & support our efforts to get strict regulations nationally on service dog trainers.

As our followers are aware, Achilles never reached the capabilities to be a proper service dog for Ronald. He is retired and continues to adjust to life as our family pet. Thru our experiences we have learned that there are not any regulations governing who can train a service dog, what constitutes a service dog. There are people claiming to be service dog trainers that have no specific training. There are also people claiming a dog is a service dog while not having any training. Many people are being taken advantage of. These include families that have children with disabilities, our disabled veterans. The cost of a service dog can be $20,000.00+,
It is not fair for people to be taken advantage of, there is a need for government regulations regarding service dogs. Achilles Service Dogs will be working to get our Senators & Representatives to look into this and take action before more lives are ruined, families losing thousands of dollars. Please watch for updates and we ask you for your support.

You so nicely have been asking what has happened to me now that I am retired. I am now Ronald's family pet with Gracie & Moses. I spend most of my time out by the lake and often even sneak in for a swim.

Due to circumstances way beyond our control, we are very sad to announce that Achilles is going into very early retirement. As soon as Achilles went to high school with Ronald, our suspicions were confirmed. He was then re-evaluated by qualified service dog trainers and a veterinarian. It is heart breaking to Ronald and all of us. Out of bad, good will come. Please stay posted for our continued efforts to get a professionally trained service dog that will meet Ronald's needs as he heads to Flagler College in August!! Thanks to all for your support.

Happy 2nd Birthday Achilles!!!

Achilles is attending classes with Ronald. Both are learning, with graduation around the corner. Achilles is going to be going back to a new training school. We have learned that he has much more to learn before he actually becomes a full service dog. He has the desire to help Ronald, we are confident that he will finally get to provide complete care for Ronald before they are off to college.

We have long been aware of the incredible innate capabilities that animals have. Aside from being able to detect things like natural disasters and medical complications, they can be overwhelmingly compassionate. When it comes to the heartwarming empathy of animals, we have to take a look at the incr…
