Sometimes saving a career means getting aggressive with treatment immediately. Don’t be afraid to do what needs to be done, even if it’s a littlle “outside-the-box”. Horses often just need a little extra help to get over the hump.

Sacroiliac pain is far more common than I was once taught. If your horse is showing any of these signs, reach out to discuss. A thorough exam is important because there often are other things going on as well.

Horsemanship:
A good practice for any performance horseman is to make a habit of routinely checking your horse’s legs. Run your hands down the tendons and ligaments every few days. You’ll start to develop a feel for what is his normal, and then notice if there is something that is abnormal for him.
