This cross was years in the making. Draft X are tough to do right. Many draft horses bring in traits that undermine the type of athleticism we're looking to deliver. To improve our odds we started with a dual-purpose draft mare, talented under saddle and broke to drive. She possesses drive, top-notch conformation, and an impressive pedigree stacked with draft horses bred for performance including dressage, ranch work, and bullfighting. We proudly present the resulting filly, Dice. She has the size, bone, agility, and feathers for those looking for a standout pickup or ranch horse.

We had some difficult conversations with our vet and the team at CSU this past week as we got to the bottom of what caused JJ to dry up. She subplexed her hip, which is irreversible and untreatable. We had to put her down this past Friday. This one was particularly tough for us. She has had a massive impact for such a young mare. Producing several successful rope horses and quality ranch horses, including our good keeper filly Brandy. She passed on that difficult to find combinations of heart, grit, athleticism with trainability and gentleness. Even good horses have their time. Rest east sweet girl.

The graft went perfectly. Thank you everyone for your help in our search for a nurse mare. The ability of the horse community to rally even though that often means trusting relative strangers with your mare for the sake of a foal, has been humbling.
