Lani & BlackJack, Poles at AKF 8/10/22 #proudtrainermoments
Mara and BlackJack had a lesson in the field tonight and as we were finishing these ladies came to visit. The one who stayed seems as curious about me as I was of her. She was only about 100 feet from me at times. I kept thinking surely she will take off soon. And she did, but not for a couple minutes. How peaceful to just listen to the evening sounds and watch her watch me. BlackJack was an awfully good boy and despite a quick spin did not lose Mara so I was grateful for that too. If you have the volume on beware my loud voice at the beginning talking to Mara, but then I lowered it to speak with the doe. I just love working outside on days like today!
Partial On Farm Lease available on the best boy ever, our man Shadow. If you are looking for a fantastic trail pal and low level Dressage mount, he is your guy. Been there, done that, super safe 14.3h QH gelding looking for a steady partner for long treks in the woods. Shadow is our Number 1 Schoolie and while he is beginner safe he really would prefer to be ridden by someone who has a basic knowledge of how to ride with their seat. And to do less lessons. He loved it when we were shut down and the trainer was riding him. Located on a beautiful 60 acre farm in Sherborn MA with indoor and outdoor rings and abuts public lands available for additional trail riding. All tack provided. Contact us for more details.
Not sure who was happier to get out for a trail ride yesterday in the snow, me or Silver Star. This regal boy is a winter lease we get to have fun with. He is just the sweetest guy! He is a registered QH and cremello in color. He is not actually as dirty as the photos make him look. Just the cream color against the white snow! I have been remiss in posting about the new kids, so welcome to the team, Star! We are happy you are here. Swing by and say hi to this handsome boy!
Sam I Am left this world yesterday afternoon. I’d like to think he is at the Bridge teaching children who were taken too soon how to ride and love horses. He has earned his sainthood here on Earth so if he decides to retire that's good too. So thankful he didn’t suffer and it was quick. So many people loved his kind and generous soul and he was such a gift to us. Miss you so much Samwise. Rest easy buddy. We love you.
Everyone should have an office that looks like this. Really lucky girl I am. BTW, that tree is a Northern Catalpa! We have all been wondering. Also have pic of Sam and Kayla in the field working towards the schooling HT here July 29. Totally blessed!
Congrats are in order for this rider who earned year end awards in both Training Level and Vintage Divisions!
Cerredwyn and Belle worked hard this year and I am very proud of the progress they have made together. It's been a joy to watch their confidence as a team grow! 😁
CRDA Year End Banquet was fun as always! Two time Olympian Jacquie Brooks is our clinician and was both wonderfully educational and entertaining. She's teaching at Apple Knoll again today and I strongly urge you to go audit if you can! Can't wait for next show season!
I'm very sad, but the time has come to find a new person for Jackson. He has done so much for and with me! Ideally I would love to find someone who is going to take him out on trails and do a little jumping with him since he LOVES to jump. He is SOOO unbelievable soft in the air over the rails. I think he would really have fun in the Hunter Ring!!
He is a solid First Level Dressage horse. He is good for farrier and vet. He clips, loads, ties and is UTD on all. At 18 years old he is on minimal maintenance - just Previcox/Equioxx and it helps him so I'd recommend him staying on it. I have had to focus on some other projects of late and one of my Junior students is leasing him. She is having a blast and so is he. He loves his job as a low level Schoolmaster!! If you know of anyone looking for such a horse, please give a holler. I'm going to miss this horse terribly!!
Introducing the newest member of the Smithlynd team, Piper!
Piper's duties include chasing various varmints, keeping us company and in general just being beyond cute. She is a healthy 7 or 8 week old feral kitten who we hope to acclimate to humans. I don't think it will be a problem. :-)
This coming weekend is CRDA's Year End Clinic & Banquet with Janet Foy. This wonderful club provides learning opportunities through clinics & shows and many on the Smithlynd team are happy members who support the club by volunteering at or participating in various events. And as they say, membership has it's benefits. :)
Year End awards have been announced and we congratulate Gianna Palombo & Lindsey Hartnett on their success & hard work as they have both earned year ends in their respective levels!!
Gianna also won the lottery for a spot in the Janet Foy clinic! In fact, we have a few lucky riders in our barn as Amanda Comer and I are riding in the clinic as is frequent visitor Michele Bigelow. We are very thankful for this fantastic chance to learn from this marvelous trainer and Judge. What a way to end the year!!!
