In Love ‘em & Lead ‘em episode 1 we talked about our little buddy Max, AKA “Tiny Tim.” Max was rescued from a puppy mill and has a wonky leg that he doesn’t let stop him a bit!

We loved working with him, his brother Harry and their awesome parents. You can hear more about Max wherever you listen to podcasts.

We are getting A LOT of new puppy/dog calls.
Adding a dog to the family is exciting and it can be a little stressful.

Pet stores will make house think you need a ton of gear to get going, but it simply isn’t true. The less you focus on the paraphernalia and the more you focus on a routine, consistency and boundaries, the better off you will be.

Here is a list of necessities to get you off on the right foot. Oh, and some of our cute puppy campers too. ;)

Working with families for the life of their dog is our FAVORITE thing! We love seeing puppies grow and develop into amazing companions and we are there to support the humans through the ups and downs.

When you get your puppy started off on the right paw at a very young age and learn the concept of using leadership and attention to shape and train their behavior, you are set up for success.

Moose came to us for puppy camp and we helped his parents establish a solid foundation of obedience and behavior. When he was developmentally ready for more, he came back for big boy camp and we had a blast!

We can help new puppy parents with a private puppy session where we teach you how to establish a leadership routine and how to deal with challenges all little ones go through. We also offer our puppy camp, which is an immersive program where WE establish a leadership routine with them and teach parents how to keep it up.

Either way we are here for all the puppy breath, play time, snuggles and even the accidents. Want more information about puppy options? Just ask.

“In the throes of the new puppy blues, we called Dog Training Camp USA, desperate for help with our then 11-week-old cockapoo, Ollie, and they delivered beyond our wildest expectations. Our main concerns were potty and crate training, and the team tackled both with a passion and expertise that left us in awe. In just two weeks, Ollie went from constant accidents and crate meltdowns to confidently using her crate and following a reliable potty routine. The trainers were incredibly supportive, keeping us updated throughout the process and equipping us with tools to maintain her progress at home. Thanks to their care and dedication, life with Ollie has gone from chaos to calm, and we can’t recommend Dog Training Camp USA enough!”

At the end of Sheba’s lesson, I went to show her dad how to reinforce manners as she exits the crate and saw a stuffing explosion. If your dog is tearing things up in the crate, please don’t put anything in it. They are FINE laying on the plastic tray and it is much safer for them. Give your dog an appropriately sized bone to chew on and they can safely stay busy while you are gone or sleeping. Before I left, I got to see Sheba barely pass a bunch of that stuffing, which was both scary and disgusting. *Never leave a leash on your dog in the crate. Sheba was under direct supervision and instruction during this clip.

Prince is a wild 3 year old American Bulldog that came to his new family from a less than great home situation. He loves people so much that he was jumping all over them and was too wild to let hang out in the house with the family. Especially when one member just had back surgery.

We worked with Prince for 3 weeks on leash walking, house manners, place, basic obedience, how to ask for attention appropriately (without jumping), and exposed him to lots of people, other dogs and new and exciting situations. We are so proud of how far Prince came in 3 weeks and how well he is doing at home after training.

Keep up the good work CJ & Prince! Smooches from his favorite ladies at DTC.

We are so proud of Roxy and her family! Getting this report months after training makes us so happy!

“I was very skeptical when my BF told me about these trainers who didn’t use collars or clickers to train dogs. He informed me that one of the trainers was a dog trainer in the military. Knowing how rigorous and efficient that training is, i gave them a chance. We did the 3 week training and boy am I glad we did. I tried to do training with her but I was at my wits end.

I gave them a dog who I constantly had to be on top of: ate everything in sight (socks, plastic, paper, bedsheets, etc.), would get on the table the second you turned your back, pulled stuff off counters, constantly stole toys and food from her older sister, and got kicked out of daycare. I got back a dog who listens and complies, is now loved at daycare, leaves her sister alone when he sister growls at her, and can be left unsupervised for more than 10 mins.
Highly recommend and worth every penny.”

Dash is a 1.5yo anxious chiweenie with a big attitude. He has bitten 4 people, can’t go on walks because he is aggressive to people in the neighborhood and his family can’t have anyone over because of his dangerous behavior.

His mom has tried training at a pet store and Prozac and they haven’t made any progress. Cory did a private lesson and was met with growling, barking and Dash charging at her from his perch on the couch multiple times.

Poor Dash needed to be shown that he doesn’t need to guard his house, mom, couch or really be in charge of anything and that he can relax and trust his mom to be in charge and have his back.

Cory couldn’t get near him on the first session, but his awesome mom was ready to take steps to help his stress and behavior. We removed him from the couch and gave him a safe alternative (his dog bed) for when he was nervous. We gave him a little more structure with some manners at the door and with his food, not comforting him when he is barking and growling and using a leash in the house to keep everyone safe and enforce commands. Next session we will add leash walking and basic obedience.

This is the report from Thanksgiving after our first lesson. We are so proud of Dash and his mom for making changes so everyone can be safe and Dash can live with much less stress.
