The babies are doing well. Tessa is a very attentive mom. I have been feeding her extra hi protein food. I also made dog food that contains extra vitamins and minerals to keep her milk supply healthy. The pups pull a lot of calcium from her so it’s important to keep her healthy. This is so good for the pups!

At 4: 30 this morning I was awakened by the sound of a puppy. The event we have been waiting for has arrived. At this moment we have 3 new babies.

I have been raising dachshunds for a few years. One of the first things I experienced was some of my pups reacted to the Bordetella vaccine. Swelling and lumps on the head and face, itching and extreme restlessness. I understand it is for kennel cough which is highly contagious but I warn my puppy parents not to give it to them. It is generally successfully cured with antihistamines and rest. But it could affect their breathing seriously. So you, as the pups owner need to research this and make the decision. Ask the breeder if they have seen any reactions to vaccines. Talk to your vet but in the end it is your decision.

Well we do have an oops! Tessa is prego so there will be puppies coming soon. This will be Gunthers last sire. She is an excellent mother and always has beautiful pups. Pictures and more info when they are born.
