💙 DONNIE IS STILL WAITING💙

At just 2.5 years old, Donnie has already experienced more than his fair share of heartbreak. After being dumped, he found his way to us and has been waiting patiently for approximately 8 months for a family to finally call his own.

Donnie is a strong, sweet, energetic boy with a big heart and an even bigger love for life. He’s looking for a family that understands he will need time to adjust to a new home, along with patience, consistency, and a commitment to helping him continue his training.

Because of his strength and enthusiasm, we feel Donnie would do best in a home without other pets and preferably with older children. He does enjoy jumping when he gets excited, but with time, training, and guidance, he has so much potential to thrive.

More than anything, Donnie wants what every dog deserves—a chance to play, be loved, feel safe, and finally settle into a home where he belongs.

❤️ If you’re interested in meeting Donnie, please call the shelter at (203) 924-2501, option 2.

🎇Here is a list of some of the Fireworks in CT starting this weekend 🎆

🎆 Fireworks season is starting across Connecticut, and while we may enjoy the celebrations, many dogs do not.

CT Dog Gone Recovery wants to remind everyone to please keep your dogs SAFE during fireworks season. Loud noises can cause even the calmest dogs to panic and run.

🐾 Keep dogs INSIDE during fireworks🐾 Create a quiet, safe space for them at home🐾 Keep windows, doors, and gates secure🐾 Walk dogs BEFORE fireworks begin🐾 If outside, ALWAYS keep dogs leashed🐾 Never assume your dog “won’t run”🐾 Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are up to date

Sadly, every year many dogs go missing after being startled by fireworks. A few extra precautions can save lives and prevent heartbreak.

Please help us spread awareness and keep Connecticut dogs safe this summer. ❤️🐶

It is turtle crossing season! It is important to stay vigilant while driving this time of year as turtles increasingly require crossing busy roadways to reach ancestral breeding and nesting sites.

There are some very simple things to you can do to help turtles crossing roadways and we have listed just a few of the basics here!

Whenever it is safe to do so, we encourage assisting turtles found in roadways by either moving them in the direction in which they were headed or transporting them to a licensed rehabilitation facility should they be hit by cars.

Thank you to all you turtle crossing heroes out there! Show us your best turtle crossing photos from this season in the comments and do not forget to use our Wildlife Emergency Hotline as a resource (207-361-1400).
