This little firecracker is ready for the festivities!

Festivities are fun, but sometimes not for our 4 legged friends.
Here are some tips to help you and your furriend for 4th of July weekend.

1. Keep Dogs Indoors and Secure
Fireworks can frighten even the calmest dogs.

Keep your dog inside, preferably in a quiet room with the blinds closed and calming music or white noise.

Double-check that doors, windows, and fences are secure in case they try to flee.

2. ID and Microchip Check
Ensure your dog’s collar has up-to-date ID tags and that their microchip information is current.

July 4th is one of the most common days for pets to run away due to fear from fireworks.

3. Avoid Fireworks and Party Foods
Never bring your dog near fireworks or allow them to ingest party food or alcohol.

Many treats (like chocolate, grapes, onions, or BBQ bones) are toxic to dogs.

Golden Retrievers Shed—A Lot!
They have a thick double coat that sheds year-round, with heavier shedding in spring and fall. Regular brushing (at least 2–3 times a week) helps control loose fur and keeps their coat healthy.

Their Ears Need Extra TLC
Golden retrievers have floppy ears that can trap moisture, making them prone to ear infections. Regular cleaning and drying after baths or swimming are important to prevent issues.

Professional Grooming Helps Prevent Matting
While daily brushing is helpful, professional grooming every 6–8 weeks is ideal. It includes trimming feathering on the legs, tail, and belly, which can easily tangle or mat if neglected.
