Hello! We are back and have some exciting projects/ additions to our Rabbitry!
We are still breeding netherland dwarfs, however I just recently acquired my new herd buck so it will be a little while before we have pure bred netherland babies available.
We are super excited to announce the addition of Holland Lops!! I have been wanting to get into Holland Lops for a long time, but just haven’t found the right bunnies to go with. Holland lops are a very popular breed, and with their popularity comes a lot of low quality rabbits being passed off as “pure bred” Holland Lops, or just bad quality Holland Lops being bred and sold. To get one of those true adorable looking Holland Lops takes dedication to the breed, and honestly more 💰than I’m used to putting into rabbits. Along with good quality hollands, I have always been obsessed with the tri color/ harliquin colors! So when I recently lucked out and found this adorable black/ orange harliquin Holland Lop buck I knew I had to take a chance and see how he would turn out! He’s not a perfect example of the breed, but man he sure is pretty! He’s got some great qualities to work with in my breeding program, and paired with the right does, has the potential to produce some beautiful babies! While he’s grown the only does I’ve had in my barn were netherland dwarf does and I wanted to see how he performed as a breeder so I decided to do a few test litters with one of my Netherlands while I looked for the perfect Holland Lop Doe to pair with him. Well shortly after his second pairing with my ND I found the PERFECT lady for him! A beautiful tri color Holland Lop doe who came with a great pedigree and is registered. She again isn’t perfect when it comes to the breed standard, but where she lacks is exactly the strong points in my buck! I was super excited to get them together and see if I could get some babies who have the best of both worlds when it comes to genetics!
Ok ok, I’ll stop rambling now and just get to the pictures of the beautiful babies we have! I currently have a litter of Netherland Dwarf/ Holland Lop kits who are growing to be the cutest little buns! These little ones are just starting to zoom around and leave the nest box. They will be so fun to watch grow and I will be accepting deposits on them within a few weeks!
The really exciting nesting box is this box of brand new Holland Lops! This beautiful momma gave me a gorgeous litter of both harliquins and tri color babies! These little guys are only a few days old, and some will be held back for my breeding program so it will be a while before I will take deposits on them, but agh! I was to excited to wait to share them! They may not be super cute right now, but man am I excited to see how they grow!
Now that I’ve got a handful of solid buns that I’m going to be working with, I’ll need some good names for them all! I’ll be posting individual pictures of each of them and asking for name suggestions soon, so be sure to come back and check them all out!
In the mean time. Just look at all these little bunnies 🐰 🥰
