Hope's Chest Inc.

Hope's Chest Inc. Hope’s Chest Inc. Hope’s Chest was created soon after Hope Animal Hospital opened in July 2009. It was heaven sent. Hope’s Chest, Inc.

is a non-profit organization in Cleveland County, N.C., that provides a range of critically important veterinary and related services for animals referred by Cleveland County Animal Control. Our wonderful clients began our efforts by donating their pet’s medications to Dr. Lawrence to “pay it forward.” Their generosity to help other animals after losing their own pet was astonishing. Dr. Lawrence

began helping animals at our local humane society shelter (Cleveland County Humane Society), hurt or injured animals at Cleveland County Animal Control’s shelter, and several animals that came into her hospital that had no one to take care of them. Since 2009, Dr. Lawrence has been able to collect and use medications and donated bedding and supplies to help animals in need. And it has been an amazing success…over 1000 animals have received veterinary care!! became a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2015. This is our mission: "Hope’s Chest Inc. These services include surgery and other medical care, fostering and adoption, educational programs and community outreach." We are all VERY excited that God has given us this opportunity to give to those animals that need our help. Dr. Lawrence came up our tag line…“Pawsitively Paying It Forward” …this sums up Hope’s Chest!!

Just a little math with a big impact… 🐶🐱

A single dog can have up to 20 puppies a year. A cat? Even more. It adds up fast — and so does the number of animals in need.

Spaying and neutering isn’t just responsible — it’s life-saving. By preventing unwanted litters, we’re giving more pets a real chance at the love and care they deserve. 💟🐾

Meet Oreo, the embodiment of resilience and affection! 🐾 This delightful 5-6 year old female Bully Breed Cross captured our hearts from the moment she arrived at Hope's Chest, Inc. Despite her front leg injury, Oreo's spirit remains undaunted, embracing life with boundless joy and love.

In her ideal home, Oreo dreams of cozy Disney movie nights, lounging by the pool, and enjoying campfire nights with her humans. While she prefers to be the only dog, she adores older children (over 10 years old) and doesn't mind the company of feline friends. A fenced yard is essential for this playful pup who loves to explore and run.

Oreo, our longest resident, is a beacon of love and companionship. Fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and trained, she's ready to shower her new family with endless cuddles and unwavering loyalty. With her favorite stuffed animals by her side, Oreo eagerly awaits the opportunity to join your heart and home.

Contact us today to inquire about adoption and give Oreo the loving forever home she deserves! 💖🏡

Summer heat can be dangerous for our furry friends — especially when it comes to heatstroke. 🐶☀️

Know the signs: heavy panting, excessive drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. These can be signs your pet is overheating.

If you notice any of these, act fast — move them to a cooler spot, gently wet their body with cool water, and get them to a vet right away.

Keeping pets inside during the hottest parts of the day and always providing fresh water can help prevent this serious condition. 💜🐾

Every day, rescue groups are faced with tough decisions — especially when an animal needs urgent medical care.

That’s where Hope’s Chest steps in. We help fund the treatment these pets need to survive and heal, giving them a true chance at a better life. 💜

Even if you never meet them, the impact of that support is very real — and it’s often the reason an animal gets to begin again. 🐶🐱💉

Not all cruelty is loud. Sometimes, it’s quiet — the kind that shows up as untreated injuries, severe neglect, and animals left to suffer without help. 🐶💔

Neglect is one of the most common forms of animal abuse, and often the most overlooked.
It doesn’t always look violent — but its impact is just as serious.

Recognizing the signs of neglect is an important step in understanding how animal cruelty truly affects the most vulnerable. 💟

Hope’s Chest isn’t a shelter or a rescue — but we’re a crucial part of the safety net that makes rescue possible. 💜✨

When approved rescue groups say “yes” to an animal in crisis, we help cover the emergency and critical veterinary care they need to survive. 🐈💉

Thanks to the generosity of our community, more animals are getting the second chances they deserve. Together, we’re saving lives behind the scenes — and that’s something truly special. 💟

Our Story

Hope’s Chest medical fund was created soon after Hope Animal Hospital opened in July 2009. Our wonderful clients began our efforts by donating their pet’s medications to Dr. Moseley Lawrence to “pay it forward.” Their generosity to help other animals after losing their own pet was astonishing. It was heaven sent.

Dr. Moseley Lawrence began helping animals at our local humane society shelter (Cleveland County Humane Society), hurt or injured animals at Cleveland County Animal Control’s shelter, and several animals that came into her hospital that had no one to take care of them. Over the last 7 years, Dr. Moseley Lawrence has been able to collect and use medications and donated bedding and supplies to help animals in need. And it has been an amazing 10 years… over 1000 animals have received veterinary care!!

In October 2013, Hope’s Chest Inc became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Because of its continued growth and support, the medical fund now focuses more on the hurt and injured strays/abandoned animals referred by the Cleveland County Animal Control. Hope’s Chest is a very unique organization. We are focused on providing medical and surgical care for our county’s shelter animals that need more specialized care. But we also want to help educate our community. Our mission statement better defines who we are and what we do:

“Hope’s Chest Inc. is a non-profit organization in Cleveland County, N.C., that provides a range of critically important veterinary and related services for animals referred by Cleveland County Animal Control. These services include surgery and other medical care, fostering and adoption, educational programs and community outreach.”
