This has been a 3 month process with Wesley. He has had ongoing medical issues, first several severe viral infections and injuries then broken leg surgery which did not work. After leg surgery not working we had to have his leg amputated. He is now home resting. He is being loved and cared for like the prince that he is. Wesley can walk well on 3 legs and is still thankfully losing weight. He appears bloated, kinda like a beached whale. But it's the hydration he gets and lack of desire to go out in the cold 🥶 .

WESLEY came into our rescue on October 7th as an 8 mile stray. He was in very bad medical condition and had a difficult broken leg. We rushed him to Wilson vet stabilized him by keeping Wesley hospitalized to also run tests, biopsies and cultures. We learned after testing and 4 different potent antibiotics that Wesley had a severe antibiotic resistent infection. Surgeries were done, swelling continued as well as more tests and replacement of sutures multiple times. None of this helped. Wesley leg surgery did not work, his plates and screws did not hold due to the severe infection and swelling and now amputation is the only viable recourse. After over 40 days of numerous hospital stays, medical surgeries and treatments the swelling and infection continue. WE NEED HELP with this close to $10,000 medical bill. WESLEY has gone from poor condition with a broken leg and infections to. Horrible condition needing his leg amputated and still need to clear infection.
Mac has Wesley and his foster in the rescue. Wesley started with severe infections and a broken leg. The first bill was for $3500 to manage the infections and get him healthy and stabilize the broken leg. COST: $3,500. of which$2,400 was paid by MAC directly and balance by donors. THEN. The broken leg surgery was done, still had infections, did recheck as sutures came out several times, drainage was heavy and new medications at a cost of $3800.THEN on Monday, November 11, 2024. Dr Vitale saw Wesley, said the broken leg surgery did not hold, the plates and screws were not attached and Wesley need a leg amputation at ANOTHER COST OF $1,950 TO $3,500
The foster, Nicole is a dog groomer and has help a lot if people and rescues doing free grooming. Now Nicole needs our help. Wesley will NOT be put down ( nicole was very frustrated when she wrote this). Wesley will be first treated to clear his infection. Once infection is cleared then he will undergo an amputation. WE NEED YOUR HELP

10/28 UPDATE. WESLEY was rushed back to Wilson Vet because his infection got worse. He has a bacterial infection that is almost totally resistant to antibiotics. His leg is substantially and constantly draining pus. This infection could take his broken leg which we are trying toavoid. Wesley is now on Amikacin which can only be give by daily shot. Blood work must be frequently done to monitor his kidneys due to the strength of this antibiotic. Because of this ongoing infection Wesley bill continues to rise. We pay on his bill every couple of days but we need help. His bill is $3,550. PLEASE HELP US BY DONATION AND SHARING THIS POST.

UPDATE: (10/24)WESLEY surgery went well but he has had complications post surgery. His leg infection continues and he returned to Wilson vet where he was given a stronger antibiotics (4th one) and the sutures that came out were replaced. Wesley is resting but not eating and pus discharge continues to oze out of the surgical site. The doctors and us are worried about this medical (pus, no movement, swelling too m u h, sutures poping out) outcome the vet bill continues to climb and we could really use your help paying his bill. We have already paid over $3000 of the rescue money but we still need help. PLEASE DONATE. WESLEY WILL BE RETURNING TO WILSON VET.

Nicole his foster took him in and was searching for a rescue to sponsor Wesley as he had a lot of medical problems including a broken leg that was severely infected. MAC took Wesley on and We have already spent $2,400 to treat his medical issues and ongoing infection. Wesley has a broken leg and will undergo surgery soon. FOSTERS are invaluable to any rescue. Without them rescues cannot take in and care for the sick, neglected, malnourished, abandoned and abused dogs.
MichiganAnimal Crew has been lucky in that a majority of our dogs in foster are adopted by their fosters. This however means we are short fosters. We only do 1 foster dog per home and supply everything needed to care for your foster dog. We have a seasoned rescurer assigned to you and are always available.
