Wow! What a great pack walk today 👏🏼.

Thank you to everyone who came out to work with their dogs. Everyone did amazing and it's so fun to watch everyone working as a group. The weather didn't disappoint either ☀️

Reminder- pack walks are for anyone who has completed a training program with us! They are to help us practice in a judgment free, group setting, with controlled dogs. It's a great opportunity to reel in what you may be struggling with and fine tune your handling skills with your dog. We are there to help coach, and answer any questions you may have.

I'm thinking of creating a email list of anyone interested in pack walks- as I think some of you have missed announcements on Instagram/Facebook. Let me know if you'd like to be included in this!

Capturing the moments in time that are the most correct can be done many ways. We choose a clicker for a puppy until we have good engagement and then move to our voice. For us a click or clicks mean food time like a dinner bell. As of now we are just paying to pay the puppy for being brave in the unfamiliar setting. Markers help us mark moments in time both desirable and undesirable. I can’t control the environment all the time but I can control myself - therefore I can influence and control my dog if need be.

How enjoyable to be able to relax and enjoy a peaceful walk through the park with the best dogs!

We all enjoyed our morning and the dogs absolutely killed it. From their car manners, leash manners and overall mindset. We saw lots of other people, dogs, ducks and chipmunks!

As always- the goal will always be to get you out doing MORE with your dogs…. Enjoyably 😉.

There are signs a dog is going to bite. I’m wearing gloves for a reason- I saw those signs. I just needed to find the place on his body he thinks he needs to guard. I’m just feeling him out so the consequence for biting right now is that I prove it infective / unnecessary by not escalating with him. He has a unique history and before I corrected him for naughty behaviors like this I’m going to spend time directing him and adding other skills to his repertoire. I’m learning who Sparky is so I can adjust the approach to his needs. The best part about not being in a box ideologically is being able to apply the method that works best with each dog individually.

This was literally one uncomfortable go at making it down the stairs. How many of us find doing new things hard, scary or uncomfortable?

As soon as he made it all the way down, he believed differently and behaved differently.

His second time down the stairs- he acted as if he had done it 10000x before. Sometimes scary things need a little nudge to help you believe in yourself.

This is very basic leash pressure that Hutch already knows. We also know that Hutch does in fact know how to use stairs- he just didn’t “want” to go down these stairs initially.

As a dog trainer repeat clients with the same dog is not our goal. We want our owners to be independent with their dogs and training with us is a stepping stone in their furever lives together. A referral for a small business owner is a huge compliment! Either equal to or even better than a referral is when a client gets a second or third dog and brings them through our program! Thanks to everyone that’s continued to supported us with refugees and referrals over the last 8 years! We couldn’t be us without you- THANK YOU!!

I love the low impact biking has on my joints and the dogs love a good run. We don’t always need to chase things to get a good run in with the dogs! Careful not to get struck by lightning.
