Why Do I Require Rabies & FVRCP (Distemper) Vaccinations?

I know that vaccine requirements can feel like an extra step, so I want to explain why they’re so important.

🐾 Rabies is required because it is a fatal disease that can be transmitted to humans and other animals. Even indoor cats can be exposed if a bat or other wildlife enters the home. Grooming can occasionally be stressful, and while bites are uncommon, I have a responsibility to protect myself, my clients, and every cat in my care.

🐾 FVRCP (often called the distemper vaccine) protects against several highly contagious feline viruses, including feline panleukopenia, feline herpesvirus, and calicivirus. These illnesses can spread through direct contact, contaminated surfaces, clothing, carriers, and even hands. Cats don’t have to touch each other for these diseases to spread.

I care for cats from many different households every week. Requiring current vaccinations helps reduce the risk of disease transmission and allows us to provide the safest possible environment for every feline guest.
