It is National Walk Your Dog Day, and for Military Working Dogs, a walk is never just a walk.

It is conditioning.
It is reinforcement.
It is time spent building focus, trust, and readiness alongside their handlers.

Whether on patrol, during training, or in moments of recovery, movement is part of how our dogs stay mission-ready and mentally sharp.

Today we recognize the simple but powerful role that daily movement plays in the health, performance, and partnership of Army Military Working Dog teams.

Because every step matters.

Today we celebrate the brown dogs of the Military Working Dog Program.

From rich sable and deep chocolate to brindle and tan, these dogs have served across generations with strength, intelligence, and unwavering reliability. They have patrolled bases, detected threats, safeguarded teams, and stood beside their handlers in every environment imaginable.

Their color may catch the eye, but it is their training, their partnership with their handlers, and their commitment to the mission that truly define them.

Today is a day to celebrate the brown-coated dogs whose service is written not in markings, but in lives protected and missions completed. Here’s to all of the brown dogs who serve with honor and distinction!

Thanksgiving is almost here, and we know how tempting it can be to share a little bit of your big holiday meal with your pets. 🩡 But not all the foods we enjoy are safe for them.

Some of our favorite Thanksgiving staples can make animals very sick so please help keep your furry family members safe by sticking to pet approved treats only. πŸ₯•

What sweet Stacee pictured here would really love for the holiday is a home of her very own. πŸ™ She does not need leftovers she just wants a cozy bed some love and maybe a bone or two. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Stacee is three years old, and she would be so thankful to spend the season with a family who cares about her.

The shelter will be closed on Thursday November 27 for Thanksgiving and will reopen Friday at 11 am for our Black Furrday event! πŸ–€

The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road.If you have questions call 954-989-3977 πŸ’•
