💙 Meet Scooby! 💙

Scooby is available for adoption at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter!

The moment I saw him walk through the shelter doors, I immediately thought of Scooby-Doo. With his adorable upright ears and handsome brown coloring, I knew exactly what his name would be if no owner came forward during his stray hold.

Scooby is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old. He can be a little shy at first and is often found hanging out in the back of his kennel, but once he’s leashed up and headed outside, his personality starts to shine. He is absolutely phenomenal on a leash and is a joy to walk.

His happy place is the pool! That’s where I get to see the real Scooby. He loves splashing around in the water, dipping his entire face in, and playing with bubbles. Watching him relax and have fun in the pool is enough to make anyone smile.

Scooby has shown no reactions while walking past the other dogs in the shelter kennels. However, if you already have a dog at home, we require a meet-and-greet to ensure they are a good match.
Since Scooby came to us as a stray, his behavior around cats is unknown.

Respectful children are suggested, as they should understand how to properly interact with a dog, especially one who is a little shy and still building confidence.

🐾 Our Shelter Is Full and We Need Your Help! 🐾

Our shelter has 10 kennels, but we are currently caring for 18 dogs.

While some of these dogs have already found homes or are in our care temporarily, they are still occupying kennel space, which means we have very limited room for incoming strays and animals in need.

We would love to find homes for three wonderful dogs currently available for adoption:

❤️ Miss Winnie – a sweet Golden Retriever mix, approximately 5 months old.

🖤 Two black Goldendoodle/Lab mix puppies – one boy and one girl, born February 5th.

Every adoption helps create space for animals that may need our help in the future. If you've been thinking about adding a furry family member to your home, now is a great time to meet these adorable pups!

Please share this post and help us find loving homes for Winnie and the puppies. 🐾

🐾 Meet Winnie! 🐾

Winnie is looking for her forever home and is available for adoption at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter! ❤️

This sweet girl is about 6 months old and appears to be a Retriever mix. She arrived at the shelter as a stray through no fault of her own, so her previous history is unknown.

✨ Winnie’s favorite things:
• Playing fetch
• Tug-of-war
• Splashing in the pool
• Earning treats (she's very treat-motivated!)
• Meeting new people and letting you know when visitors arrive

Winnie already sits nicely on command and is eager to learn more. She gets along well with other dogs, though a meet-and-greet is required if you have a resident dog to ensure a good match.

🐶 Dog-friendly
🐱 Cat compatibility unknown, but as a young puppy she may be able to learn to live with cats
👧 Respectful children recommended—kids should know how to interact appropriately with dogs

💕 PLEASE SHARE to help Winnie find the loving home she deserves! 💕

🐾❤️ Cal-Adopt-A-Pet Day Was a Huge Success! ❤️🐾

On June 6th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, we hosted our adoption event with the generous support of SPCA and CalAnimals, who sponsored the event and waived all adoption fees. Thanks to their support, our community came together in an incredible way, and the results were beyond anything we could have hoped for!

We are thrilled to announce that 17 animals found loving homes in a single day—an amazing accomplishment for our small shelter!

🐱 13 Kittens Adopted

3 kittens were adopted by our two Animal Control Officers for their families.
10 additional kittens were adopted by wonderful community members who learned about the event through social media and local animal advocates helping spread the word.

🐶 Nearly 5 Dog Adoptions

4 dogs were officially adopted.
We also launched our very first Foster-to-Adopt Program with one of our puppies!

Even more meaningful, two of the dogs adopted were scheduled for euthanasia due to space constraints the following Monday. Because our community stepped up and opened their hearts and homes, those dogs now have a second chance and a bright future ahead.

We want to give a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers—Cheri, Kelly, Linda, and Terri—who helped make the day such a success. They came prepared with music, lemonade, water, ice chests, pizza, donuts, red vines, and plenty of positive energy that helped create a welcoming and fun atmosphere for everyone who attended.

To everyone who shared our posts, encouraged adoptions, volunteered, donated, attended the event, and welcomed an animal into their family: thank you. Your support directly saved lives and helped move animals from the shelter into safe, loving forever homes.

A very special thank you to SPCA and CalAnimals. Without their sponsorship and the waived adoption fees, this event would not have been possible.

We are beyond grateful, blessed, and excited to see what can happen when a community comes together for animals in need. ❤️

17 adoptions in one day. 17 lives changed forever.
