Losing an animal companion changes more than your heart 💔. It literally changes so many parts of your everyday life. There may be things that you didn't even realise that would change up until now.
Your loved one/s have been part of your everyday world, they become woven into your routines, your decisions and the way your days naturally unfold.
You don't only miss them.
You notice all the little ways life feels different without them.
The supermarket feels different because you're no longer buying their favourite treats. Home feels different because the welcome you always came back to isn't there.
Weekends can feel off without walks, adventures or quiet time spent together.
You might find yourself looking at the clock differently because there's no medication to give, no dinner time to remember or no walk to plan.
Even reaching for your phone can feel different when there are no new photos to take or no funny moments to capture.
These everyday changes can catch you off guard because they're constant reminders that your life has changed.
I often heard pet loss grievers say something like.. "I don't know why something so small is making me me so emotional."
But are these moments small? These moments no matter how big or small represent so much.
Every routine, every habit and every ordinary part of your day held a piece of the relationship you share.
So if everyday life feels unfamiliar right now, please know that's a very real part of pet loss grief.
Go easy on yourself, you're not meant to have everything all figured out! Life looks different, life will feel different and there is no rush with any of this.
📌Save this for the days when those ordinary moments catch you by surprise.
🤗Share/Repost so others can be seen in their grief.
