The Humane Society of Jackson County is a private, non-profit animal welfare organization that serves the residents and animals of Seymour, Indiana.

Adoption Program: To adopt a pet, you’ll need to complete an application and talk to shelter staff. It’s pretty simple, but you may feel like it’s an interrogation. Please don’t take it personally. It’s not about you. We invest a lot of care into each animal. We want to make sure that Fido and Fluffy find forever homes, so we need to ask some questions. Please don’t hold it against us. ng to make matches that last a lifetime. Adoption Fees:

Dogs $50
Puppies $50
Cats $40
Kittens $40

The adoption fee covers a small portion of the expenses we incur for boarding, first immunizations, worming, and a spay/neuter certificate redeemable through your veterinarian. Lost and Found Program: If your pet is missing, please notify the Humane Society right away at 522-5200. Animals picked up at large within the city limits by Animal Control are brought to the shelter. Always be sure to keep an identification tag with your name and phone number on your pet’s collar to ensure he can be returned promptly. Rescue Program: This program saves the lives of many shelter pets that do not find a home locally. The JC Humane manager works with rescue groups all across Indiana and beyond. Those groups watch our web site for animals that fit into their own programs. If no local home is found, transportation arrangements are made and volunteers travel all over the state ensuring the animals make it safely to the new groups. Spay Neuter Assistance Program: Getting your pet fixed is a SNAP thanks to the JC Humane. The SNAP program assists low income families with the cost of spaying or neutering their pets. By preventing some of the litters of puppies and kittens, we are hoping that in time we will see a reduction in the number of unwanted animals coming into our shelter. We join with other humane groups throughout the USA in this effort. Share the Warmth Program: JC Humane also recycles unwanted dog houses back into the community and provides straw in the winter ensuring that dogs have appropriate shelter. We also operate a pet-food pantry when food is available. Fun-raisers Program: Wonderful people in the volunteer program help JC Humane raise funds for the daily care of the homeless pets. There are many events to assist with including My Furry Valentine, the annual garage sale and the Paws and Claws Golf Scramble.

We have a lot of mouths to feed currently, and we're down to our last two bags of food...If you would like to help our homeless dogs out, we would be very grateful!!! We try to feed Purina Dog Chow or Purina One. You can drop off anytime today or from 2-5 Saturday. THANK YOU!!!

UPDATE: HOME

My Sophie is missing! Dudleytown. 50 S. She ran out because we have roofers here replacing the roof. She is scared. Please help us find her! CALL HSJC AT 522.5200 with any information!

Sophie is fixed. She is very timid. Please do not call out to her. Just notify me if you see her. She takes daily medicine and needs them asap. Please let me know if you see her.

We have looked all evening with no luck. Please reach out if anyone see Sophie. My kids and I are heartbroken. Thank you to everyone who has helped us this evening.
