At VVC, nothing stands in the way of our commitment to serve our clients! Not even several miles of open water.

Today, Dr. Steve and Kayla of our Genetics Services team took the ferry over to visit a farm on Washington Island off the tip of Door County.

While a little outside our usual range, VVC will always go the distance for our clients and their animals!

**Dr. Steve assures me it's just a happy coincidence they're on the ferry with the Busch truck.

VVC Service Spotlight - February - Employee Development

Is a language barrier limiting communication and feedback within your team?

Does your team understand the "why's" of what happens on your dairy?

Whether it's a training focused on education or technical tasks, or regularly scheduled meetings to better communicate with employees, VVC's bilingual employee development services can help. We believe the impact of time and education invested in employees is greatly beneficial to both your cows and the people that care for them.

Visit our website to see a full list of our meetings and trainings. And if you don't see what you're looking for, give us a call! We will work with you to put together a customized meeting or training that fits your farm's needs.

In case you were wondering whether a cat could conceivably survive a stowaway journey of 36 hours and 220 miles under the hood of a truck, Dr. Stampfl has discovered that the answer is, “Yes.”

This guy’s name is Grumpy Griff. Don’t worry- he made it out unharmed! Despite Brian’s daughter Lucy’s interest in Griff, he’s on his way home to Alsteen Farms, LLC!

Very cool profile of one of our dairymen! It's so encouraging to see young people with passion entering the dairy industry!

BONDUEL, Wis. — Luke Stern was drawn to dairy farming as a young boy, even though he did not grow up on a dairy farm. “My dad is an agronomist and has a herd of beef cows,” …

VVC Service Spotlight – November

This month, we are highlighting ventilation consulting! Proper ventilation is critical for both youngstock and adult cows, especially as winter approaches. Regardless of your ventilation system, good airflow and temperature control are critical to keeping your cattle healthy, comfortable, and productive.

Have you ever had questions regarding curtain management? Wondered if your current ventilation set up is working right? Wanted to put in ventilation tubes but just don’t know where to start? Whether you’re building a new facility or looking to update a current one, our veterinarians are here to help you design a space that does just that!

Let us help you create a comfortable environment that will allow your cattle to thrive!

Following the release of updated guidance by the FDA, VVC will be discontinuing sales of aspirin through our practice beginning December 1, 2024. If you use aspirin in your cattle, reach out to your herd health veterinarian to discuss alternative options.

For more information, please visit the link below.

Updates on Aspirin Use in Cattle BackgroundIn the past, VVC veterinarians have used and recommended using aspirin to treat cows with fever or cows with pain.  None of the aspirin bolus products that are marketed in the U.S. have gone through the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) drug approval pr...

The Farm Babe came out to hear the story of one of our dairies that is celebrating an incredible milestone!

Here at the Mid-West Farm Report, we are celebrating families that have farmed the same land for more than 100 or 150 years. Today, we visit with a Sesquicentennial dairy farm in Seymour in Outagamie County. Brittney Muenster is the fifth generation and continues to dairy farm today. She says the farm didn’t start out as a dairy 150 years ago. Trying out new ideas on the farm is a theme in her family’s lineage.

VVC Service Spotlight – October

This month VVC is shining the spotlight on our laboratory services! Milk cultures are a crucial aspect in managing cattle health and overall production. Have a nasty case of mastitis that the first treatment didn’t quite clear up? Understanding what bugs you're dealing with can help us make better treatment decisions and help us figure out if there are underlying problems on your dairy.

Our lab can identify different gram positive bacterial species like Staph Aureus and different Strep species, as well as gram negatives like E.coli and Klebsiella.

Taking a properly collected sample is essential in isolating the true cause of the infection. If you’re unsure of how to do that, contact your herd health vet today! What are you waiting for? Send us your milk!
