While I will always stand by the fact that horses are not textbook animals, every horse is different, and no two situations are ever exactly the same, l also believe something needs to change in our industry.
There should be some level of testing, certification, or regulation required to offer "training" or "lessons" to the public. Right now, the equine community is flooded with individuals offering services who are simply not qualified to be teaching riders or training horses.
*This isn't just about opinions or different styles, this is about safety, education, and responsibility*
Horses are powerful, unpredictable animals. They are also a major financial investment. In the wrong hands, both horse and rider can be set back months or worse, someone could get seriously hurt.
Everyone has to start somewhere, yes. But where you start matters. Learning under knowledgeable, experienced professionals should be the foundation NOT skipped entirely.
You never stop learning, even top trainers get lessons and have bigger resources.
As an industry, we owe it to our horses, our clients, and the next generation of riders to hold a higher standard.
