💔NO DOG DESERVES TO SPEND THEIR BIRTHDAY WITHOUT A HOME 💔

They deserve to spend it with a family who loves them deeply. Jeremy has spent 6 months with us, and now his very first birthday will be spent here too. 🥺

It breaks our hearts knowing his celebration will be with us tomorrow and not with a family who is spoiling him rotten. Luckily, we have the best volunteers who treated him to a little photoshoot, and our Director Cody gave him some extra special treats, toy, & snuggle time today. 🫶🏻

Jeremy is an amazing dog who has repeatedly been dealt unlucky hands. 😢 He keeps his spirits high—but we see his spark diminishing here as he watches all his friends find their forever homes.

We want to have everyone wish Jeremy a happy 1st birthday. Please leave him a birthday wish below! After you comment, please share his post. Let’s make Jeremy’s only birthday wish come true— A FOREVER HOME. 💙

To learn more about Jeremy and inquire about him, please click the link here or in our bio: https://www.blueriverpetrescue.org/meet-our-animals

We’re hoping Jeremy won’t have to spend another 6 days with us, let alone another 6 months!🤞🏻

What an incredible start to 2026 🎉

We are so thankful for all the of the adoptions we’ve had already! Each of these pups is now in an incredibly loving home, getting spoiled like they should be. 💙

Each one of these pups wants to remind you that many of their friends are still waiting for their forever families. Please message us or fill out an application to meet any of our amazing 12 pups who are still in need! 🙏

📣 Where are all of our tiny dog lovers at?! 👀

These two silly sisters are still looking for their forever home! 🥰

Cheech & Princess are a bonded pair of sisters who would LOVE to snuggle up on their very own couch, in their very own home! These two can be a little shy at first, but once they warm up to you, they will show off their playful and snuggly sides.

Both girls are very laid back — they spend most of their time snoozing the day away on our office couch. 😴 They do great unsupervised, and happily watch over the office while we’re busy at work.

They have also done very well with other pups that are roughly their size, but can be intimated by big dogs.

Cheech & Princess would be the perfect fit for a lower energy household. Young kids with fast movements would likely be a little too high energy for their personalities.

So, if you’re looking for two petite couch buddies that will happily have a very lazy Sunday with you, then be sure to stop by during open hours on Monday to meet Cheech & Princess — or fill out an adoption application online! 📣 We are searching for a home that will adopt them together. 💙

💔JEREMY NEEDS YOU 💔

Please read & share 🙏
We don’t know what else to say about Jeremy. He’s such a great dog. We’ve posted him over & over again, each time he gets a little interest, but nothing that’s stuck. We don’t know how or why Jeremy is still with us. He’s about to celebrate his 1st birthday this week. We’re begging for him, please, we CAN’T let him celebrate it alone in his kennel. 🥺

Jeremy is such a good boy and always so happy! But over the last few weeks we’ve noticed that he is truly starting to show signs of sadness. We think after 6 monthsit’s dawning on him that all the friends he’s made at Blue River have left with families — and yet he still waits, begging to be chosen. Not understanding why nobody has chosen him. 😔

Jeremy used to jump for joy at his kennel door, just waiting to be let out to play with his friends. Now he waits—calmly, patiently, a little sad. Hoping he’ll see an unfamiliar face who came to meet him, to take him home and be his best friend.

Jeremy has had a few outings, and has even spent a few nights in a home. He does great every time he’s out! He loves car rides and pup cups, does well with kids, & enjoys the dog park and baths. He keeps his kennel clean, minds his manners, and showers people with love. ❤️ He loves to play with other pups, but he can get a bit nervous that they might steal his toys (can you blame him? He’s never had anything of his own). He has mild resource guarding tendencies that we’re sure can be corrected with positive reinforcement and proper training, and he’s never had an aggressive behavior with any dog at the rescue. The only “no” for Mr. Jeremy is cats—he’s a little too interested in them!

Jeremy is a young pup who has never been given a real chance with a forever family. After spending almost his entire life in a shelter, he’s starting to worry that this is all that he’s ever going to have.💔

PLEASE 🙏 We can’t let this be Jeremy’s story. We don’t want to see him spend his first birthday in his kennel, lonely. Jeremy deserves a loving family who will shower him with cuddles and love on his first birthday — and every one after that.

If you are interested in meeting Jeremy please contact us ASAP, or stop in Saturday from 12-4. We’ll be waiting, hoping someone is ready to take him home for his birthday. 💙

🤞🏻MICKEY NEEDS A HOME! 🤞🏻

Meet Mickey!! 🐕

If you’ve been looking for a playmate for your pup, a new farmhand, or someone to keep you company on your walks, then Mickey is your boy! Mickey is needing a new home ASAP.

Mickey loves almost every dog he meets and has been around all shapes and sizes of dogs. 🐾However, he should be watched around the small dogs as his enthusiasm can be a bitttt much and he doesn’t always watch where his feet are (a bit clumsy if you will 🤪). He also LOVES people and has never met a person he doesn’t like!

Mickey does have a prey drive towards very small animals— so he cannot be trusted with cats or flighty animals like chickens. But he is great with horses and sheep! Like we said—a perfect farm hand in the making! 🐴🐷

Mickey has a very active personality and if not kept busy, he can be destructive with shoes and furniture. With the right amount of exercise each day and some structured training, these isssues can be easily addressed.

Mickey is house trained & uses a dog door. And while he is a perfect candidate as a farm hand, he could also live with an active family who understands his exercise needs. 💪🏻

Mickey is a 1.5 years old, 60lbs, mixed breed.
📣We also request that all of our adopters allow their animals to sleep inside at night and welcome their pets in home. While we know some farm dogs are used to sleeping and being outside, Mickey does enjoy the comforts of a his people, bed, and be in a home.

ADOPTED 🎉

ADOPT DALE! 🤞🏻

Dale is confused, and honestly, we don’t blame him! How can a cute, young, happy pup like him still be looking for a home? 🤔

We told Dale not to worry, we’re sure this post will bring his forever family to him! Dale would love a family who is ready for an energetic, loyal, and cuddly companion. 🥰

Dale LOVES to be with his people and other dog friends (he may or may not squeeze through our fences to play with his buddies 😝). He does great matching the energy of other pups and will play with people as well.

Because he is still a young pup, Dale will benefit from good training habits. But don’t worry, he is already potty trained and is learning new tricks as we speak — he loves to sit for soft treats (hard treats are a no-go for this picky boy 😂).

Dale is available for adoption and ready to find his forever home! If you’d like to meet Dale, please set up a meet & greet using the link below, or reach out via messenger. 💙

We’ve got some new faces that we still need to properly introduce! 🐶🦴

Starting it off with our two brothers, Arthur and Andy! They are believed to be Lab/Dalmatian mixes. For being only 7 months old they are incredibly smart and well-mannered. They keep clean kennels and do well with toys and blankets. 🥰

While they are brothers, Andy and Arthur can be adopted separately. They do love to play together and would be great playmates for other doggy family members! Both boys are pretty high energy (hello Lab/Dalmatian breeds 🫣) and will need daily activity to keep them happy.

Both boys would be awesome companions for an active person or family! We believe they will excel at training, and would be able to pick up more advanced skills quickly.

If you’ve ever wanted the smart, driven work ethic of a Dalmatian — but with the silly, loyal personality of a lab — Andy & Arthur are your guys! Reach out for a meet and greet or apply online. 💙

ADOPTED 🎉

PLEASE SHARE DICE 💔

We will just never understand why dogs like Dice stay with us for so long. 🥺 He keeps striking out left and right, and it’s absolutely no fault of his own. He’s SO loving and sweet. Dice was even a perfect house guest on his most recent overnight stay.

About Dice:
Dice’s family loved him very much, but lost their home. Dice lost his family, his brother, and everything he knew in a matter of a week. We brought him into the rescue knowing that such a good boy like Dice would make another family so happy! But sadly, months later, he’s still here. 😢

Dice was adopted by a family for about a week, but returned for showing signs of separation anxiety. We can’t blame him—what he’s been through is pretty traumatic. 💔 He’s afraid of being abandoned again. We strongly believe that with positive reinforcement and a good kennel, Dice will adjust to being left alone again just fine. He does great in his kennel at the rescue!

Dice has had some more interest since, but it’s our rescue policy that adopted dogs be in-home family members. Dogs are only adopted to outdoor living situations if they came from a previous home where they worked livestock/farm life. Dice came from a family and home where he was snuggled in bed at night, and we believe that’s what he deserves to have again. Even with the best families and good intentions, we have to do what we believe is best for our pups. With Dice’s past living experience and his separation anxiety, we know that being kept outside or in a garage wouldn’t be what’s best for him.

Then came another promising inquiry. One that seemed like a perfect fit! But sadly, it didn’t work out again, as their apartment doesn’t allow dogs. This couple did take him for an overnight kennel break and reported that Dice did amazing!

All in all, we’re heartbroken for Dice and we know he’s getting a little more defeated every day. He’s loved and cared for at the rescue, but it’s not the same as having a loving family and home. 😔

Dice would thrive in SO many situations. He’s done well with kids (even tiny babies), is low energy, likes other pups (males preferred), keeps his kennel clean, knows basic commands, does well in car rides, likes outings, and even does okay with cats! Dice would prefer a home where his people aren’t gone for more than several hours at a time, but again, his separation anxiety can be worked through with positive reinforcement and a good kennel!

We’re hopeful that just one more family sees him who can provide the life he deserves. Please share Dice as far and wide as possible! 🙏
