For some time now, our policy has been to not do intake of birds needing placement unless it is an emergency situation. This will continue indefinitely.

We do ask that if you are considering adoption, that you contact us and we will keep you on a list of perspective adopters and will advise you when a bird becomes available. Often, we will ask the present bird owner to approve the adoption so that they are secure in where their bird is going.

Having a good network is key to rescue. I was brought two baby cottontail bunnies last night. Their nest had been found by neighbor's dog and they could not stay in the yard. I called a good friend who is a licensed rehab and, although she was closed for the night, she got my message and told me to bring them over.

Pray for them as bunnies do not do well away from their mothers.

I took a sweet 12 year old cockatiel from another rescue back in 2010 and placed him with a friend. Unfortunately, in 2013, due to the owner's health issues, he was returned. I had him here for awhile before a new home was found via a good friend. Turns out that after awhile he could not stay at that home either (3 years or so) so my friend took him back into her home. He has been a member of her flock ever since.

She recently took in another male older cockatiel that I was contacted about. I have some pretty amazing people in my life.

I wish he could tell us where he spent his first 12 years.
