In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, both 2 and 4 footed, traveling to distant and not so distant lands, going to restaurants and sleeping.

In Veterinary Medicine, as in many caring professions I suspect, there is a high rate of burnout, depression, dissatisfaction among other things.
It is up to us to make our workplace environment a healthy one. It starts at the top and is the responsibility of every employee.
It isn’t always perfect, there are always hiccups but it IS possible and it IS sustainable.
We all deserve a happy and healthy place to work!

Hey all, I wanted to take a minute to post this update as there have been some new and exciting things happening for me professionally.
I have had a great run at The Country Vet and I want to thank all of my co-workers, clients and patients for making it so! Although it has been a great run, it's time for a new adventure!
I am currently seeing patients via Vetster for telemedicine appointments and may continue to see a few at TCV for a bit. I am also looking into some relief work in the area while I build a full service mobile clinic!!!
I am really excited for this new chapter and plan to continue to work with The Country Vet for the best patient care possible!
I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone and I will keep you all updated! Please help me spread the word!
Much love!

Medication refills: Why do I need to give all the information back to the receptionist, don’t they already have that? Why does it take so long, it’s JUST a refill?!?!

When we refill medications for your animal we go through a system of checks and balances to make sure that your animal is getting the best care possible!

1) when you call in the prescription we do have the prescription information. We want you to tell us all that information back to make sure we are refilling the correct medication for your pet, at the correct dose and that you are giving it as directed or if not, how you are giving it.

2) The prescription request passes to a technician or doctor. This person goes into the medical record and checks if the patient has been in recently, looks at information regarding your animal and other medications that they are on, looks for potential drug interactions, checks to see if there is any necesssary blood work or follow up needed given the medication that is being refilled and we check to make sure it’s an appropriate medication, dose and that the directions are correct.

3) Once all this is verified the prescription is approved and a label is printed. A technician pulls the medication and verifies that the medication they pulled is the one on the label and the correct dose. The technician verifies this with another person then dispenses the appropriate amount.

4)The medication is then put up for pickup.

We do all these things between appointments, over lunches and in between times. We are full service hospitals, not only a pharmacy!
We do all this every day for every patient to give them the best possible care!

This is why it takes ‘so long’ to get a refill.

Pet obesity is an issue all the time, maybe more now than ever!

You’ve likely heard of the so-called “Covid-15”: the extra pounds some people have put on since the start of the pandemic. While it may be from stress or lack of activity, those extra pounds can not only cause humans health problems, but animals can be negatively affected by it as....
