We are deeply saddened by the news that Mr. Jim Bacon’s anvil fell silent this morning.

Jim was more than a fellow blacksmith and farrier—he was a mentor, an inspiration, and someone who had a tremendous impact on my farrier career. I will always cherish the times he took the time to critique my work, pull it apart, and teach me how to be better. He never hesitated to share his knowledge or offer a helping hand, and I’m a better farrier because of it.

Some of my favorite memories are sitting on his front porch, talking about horseshoeing and listening to the countless stories from his career. Those conversations were worth more than any lesson a book could ever teach.

The farrier community has lost a true craftsman, horseman, and friend. Thank you, Mr. Jim, for everything you shared and for the legacy you’ve left behind. Your knowledge, kindness, and passion for the trade will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, Mr. Jim. Your anvil may be silent, but your influence will continue to ring through every farrier you took the time to teach.

Schedule Update

To all of my clients:

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I’ll be out of town on business with Little River Outfitter during the last two weeks of July. Because of that, I will not be scheduling any farrier appointments during that time.

If your horse is due for a trim or reset, please contact me as soon as possible to get on the schedule next week, or plan for an appointment during the first week of August.

Thank you all for your continued support, patience, and understanding. I truly appreciate your business and look forward to taking care of everyone before I leave and as soon as I get back.

Due to the recent challenges with the virus, managing my other business, and the holiday season, I haven’t been shoeing as much lately. However, I had the opportunity to work on two horses today, making significant corrective improvements that were much needed. While I wish I had before and after photos to share, my primary focus is always on doing what’s best for the horse’s health and well-being.

I feel truly blessed to have a loyal client and friend base that supports me year after year. Thank you all for your continued trust and encouragement!
