Adoption pending

Dallas, a 9 month old bi-eyed male with a piebald coat.

Dallas is a spunky, young Husky. He was surrendered to the shelter because the owners could not handle him. It is evident from his behavior that he did not receive the proper training as a puppy. He was also adopted from the shelter and then returned before coming to SHRF, although the return was due to him not being cat friendly which is very common for the Husky breed due to their prey drive.

As cute and handsome as Dallas is, he is a handful and will require a lot of work where his humans have experience and patience to work with him. Dallas is very mouthy and jumps in excitement. He is also very affectionate and seeks attention. He will nibble at you to get your attention, wherever he can easily get to. Dallas is also food motivated which will help in his training.

Dallas does ok in the car but can get restless in the journey. It would not hurt to have a toy handy to keep him occupied. He loves to play with toys. Dallas gets along with other dogs but will expect them to be ready for some rough house play. He needs to learn some socialization manners which will come in time with the appropriate guidance and interaction with other dogs.

Dallas is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Meet Millie, a blind 18 month old female with a black and white coat.

When SHRF found out about Millie, she had been surrendered to the shelter through no fault of her own. She was bumping into everything and upon further examination the vet determined that she was blind. In addition, her eyes were buphthalmic and she had some severe uveitis secondary to severe glaucoma. Her eyes were causing her pain resembling a migraine in humans. Therefore it was in her best interest to have her eyes to be removed. As a result her initial pictures are not the prettiest but once she heals everyone will be able to appreciate her beauty.

Given her blindness it is best for Millie's own safety to be crated when left alone, at least until she is in her forever home for a period time where she learns the surroundings of her home environment. Being young she is still very inquisitive and will chew on things she thinks are her toys to chew on. Millie does still require some work on being housebroken, another reason to crate until she is fully housebroken.

She responds well to a clicker to get her attention. This is especially useful since we were not provided a name for her so she does not recognize when you are speaking to her. She is very playful and gets along well with other dogs which can be seen in the short video.

Millie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Meet Night Eye, a 4 year old male with 1 blue eye and one parti-eye and a black and white coat.

Handsome Night Eye, whose name could have been attributed to his parti-eye, has come to rescue through no fault of his own. Although we don't know how he ended up in a shelter the first time, the second time was due to his owners not being able to keep him per their landlord.

Night Eye is a very friendly and sweet Husky. We are not certain how mischievous he is when left alone but he is crate trained and just needs a little motivation to get in. He is currently being crated since there is a cat in his foster home and he has shown some prey drive so we need to ensure everyone remains safe. Therefore, he cannot be adopted to a home with cats. However, he gets along well with other dogs.

Night Eye is housebroken, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines. Heartworm positive but otherwise healthy. His adopter will be provided with instructions on heartworm treatment.
