🎆 New Year’s Eve Is Almost Here… and Your Cat Is NOT a Fan of the Fireworks 🎆

While we’re counting down to midnight, loud noises, guests, and sudden changes can be overwhelming (and downright scary) for our feline friends. Cats are masters at hiding stress — but New Year’s Eve is one of the most common times for anxiety-related issues and indoor cats sneaking outside unnoticed.

🐾 How to keep your cat safe and calm this New Year’s Eve:

🏠 Create a quiet, secure “safe room”
Choose a calm space away from doors and windows with your cat’s favorite bed, blankets, litter box, food, and water. Add white noise or soft music to help mask fireworks.

🐱 Give them space — and choices
Let your cat hide if they want. Avoid forcing affection. Boxes, covered beds, and familiar scents can provide comfort and security.

🚪 Doors closed = cats safe
With guests coming and going, cats can easily slip out unnoticed. Keep doors closed, post reminders for visitors, and consider placing your cat in their safe room before the festivities begin.

💊 Plan ahead for anxiety support
If your cat uses calming supplements or prescription anxiety medications, be sure to pick them up before the holiday. Waiting until the booms start can be too late.

📛 ID matters (even for indoor cats!)
Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are current — just in case a scared kitty makes a dash for the door.

❤️ Stay calm & keep routines normal
Cats pick up on our energy. Stick to normal feeding times and keep things as low-key as possible.

A little preparation can make a huge difference in keeping your cat calm, comfortable, and safely indoors while we ring in the New Year. 🥂🐾
If your kitty struggles with anxiety, we’re here to help you plan ahead.

🎇 Let’s make this New Year stress-free — whiskers included. 🎇

🎆 New Year’s Eve Is Almost Here… and So Are the BOOMS! 🎆

Fireworks, crowds, loud noises, and unexpected chaos can turn a fun night into a stressful one for our pets — especially dogs. Noise anxiety is real, and New Year’s Eve is one of the most common times pets go missing or have panic-related emergencies.

🐾 How to keep your dog safe and calm this New Year’s Eve:

✨ Plan ahead with medications
If your pet needs anxiety medication, calming supplements, or refills — don’t wait until the fireworks start. Pick them up before the holiday so you’re prepared when the booms begin.

🏠 Create a safe, cozy space
Set up a quiet room with your dog’s favorite bed, blankets, toys, and maybe some white noise or calming music to help drown out the fireworks. Familiar = comforting.

🚪 Doors stay CLOSED
Guests coming and going + loud noises = scared dogs bolting out the door. Double-check gates, doors, and fences, and remind guests to be extra mindful.

🐶 ID is everything
Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date — just in case.

❤️ Stay calm & reassuring
Your dog feeds off your energy. Keep things low-key, offer comfort, and avoid punishment for fearful behavior — they’re not being “bad,” they’re scared.

A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your pet safe, calm, and home where they belong as we ring in the New Year. 🥂🐾
If you have concerns about anxiety or need help planning ahead, we’re always here for you.

🎇 Let’s make this New Year safe for everyone — paws included. 🎇

Our friend here was shaking his head so hard — maybe saying goodbye to his visitors after the holidays (or protesting an ear infection 🎄👂) — that he ended up with an ear hematoma!

An aural hematoma happens when a small blood vessel inside the ear flap (pinna) bursts, allowing blood to collect between the skin and cartilage. This causes that classic puffy, swollen ear appearance. But don’t worry — we’ve got your pet covered (literally 😉). Here’s how we help them feel better:

🩺 Step 1: Local Numbing — We apply lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to gently numb the area so your pet stays comfortable.
💉 Step 2: Drainage — The doctor carefully uses a sterile needle to drain the accumulated blood from the hematoma.
💊 Step 3: Medication — We follow up with a Kenalog injection, which helps reduce inflammation and prevent the hematoma from returning.
🎀 Step 4: Head Wrap Time! — Instead of the dreaded “cone of shame,” we use a soft, secure head wrap to minimize head-shaking and protect the ear while it heals.

So this holiday season, if your pet’s ears start shaking more than Santa’s belly full of jelly, it might be time for a quick visit! 🩺💚

You warmed our hearts, brought all the snuggles and smiles we didn’t know we needed, and gave us the caffeine boost that kept us jingle-ing all the way to the finish line.

💉🐾 Ever Wonder What an IV Catheter Looks Like in Your Pet? 🐾💉

We thought this X-ray was the purr-fect opportunity to give you a behind-the-scenes look at something we use every single day — the IV catheter! 🩺✨

An intravenous (IV) catheter is a small, flexible tube that’s gently placed into a vein — most often in your pet’s front leg (the cephalic vein). This allows us to safely and efficiently deliver fluids, medications, or anesthesia directly into the bloodstream, where they can work their magic faster than Santa sliding down the chimney! 🎅⚡

These little catheters are an essential part of modern veterinary care — whether your pet is:
🎁 Under anesthesia for surgery
💧 Receiving IV fluids to stay hydrated
❤️ Being treated for illness or pain

The process is quick, sterile, and designed for comfort — most pets barely notice! For extra wiggly or anxious patients, we may place the catheter once they’re gently sedated to keep everything calm and safe. 💚

So while your pets are rockin’ around the Christmas tree, we’ll keep their care merry, bright, and IV-ry safe! 😉🎄🐾

🎄🐾 Holiday Hazards for Pets — What’s Merry vs. Scary! 🐾🎄

‘Tis the season for sparkly lights, tasty treats, and cozy family fun… but not everything festive is pet-approved! 🎅✨ Before your curious cat or treat-seeking pup gets into mischief, here’s what to watch out for this holiday season.

🚨 When It’s a Pet Emergency
Head to the nearest ER if your pet:
⚠️ Eats tinsel, ribbon, ornaments, or wrapping materials 🎁
⚠️ Chews on electrical cords or holiday lights 💡
⚠️ Ingests chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol, alcohol, or bones 🍫🍷
⚠️ Has vomiting, diarrhea (especially with blood), or seems very tired or bloated
⚠️ Has trouble breathing or collapses

💚 When It’s Probably Not an Emergency
🐶 Snuck a small bite of plain turkey or bread
🐱 Swatted a light ornament without swallowing it
🐾 Seems a little gassy or sleepy after overindulging
🐕 Licked a small amount of whipped cream or mashed potatoes

🎅 Bonus Safety Tips for a Merry & Bright Home!

🎄 Keep ornaments, tinsel, and ribbon out of reach — cats especially love batting them around!
🌹 Avoid holiday plants like poinsettias, mistletoe, and lilies — they’re toxic to pets.
🕯️ Never leave candles unattended (curious tails = instant chaos).
🧦 Keep gift bags, twist ties, and plastic wrap away from sneaky snackers.

🎄😺 When You Wake Up From Anesthesia and Realize It’s Almost Christmas... 😺🎄

This little cutie is giving total “What day is it? Did Santa come yet?” vibes after waking up from anesthesia! 🎅💤✨

Just like humans, pets can feel a bit groggy, wobbly, or “what just happened?” after a procedure — so if your furry elf is a little dazed or dramatic post-visit, don’t worry! That’s totally normal. 💚

🩺 What to Expect After Anesthesia:

🐾 Sleepy or Unsteady: They may seem drowsy or a little tipsy on their paws (we promise there’s no eggnog involved 🍶).
🥣 Eating & Drinking: Offer small amounts of water first, then food later in the day once they’re fully awake. Appetite may be light for 12–24 hours.
🚽 Bathroom Breaks: Give them time — anesthesia can make bathroom habits a bit irregular for a day or so.
❤️ Cuddles Only, No Rough Play: Keep them cozy and quiet — think Hallmark movie marathon, not reindeer games.

So if your pet’s giving off “I just woke up from a long winter’s nap” energy, let them rest — they’ll be back to jingling around the house in no time! 🎅🎁🐾

🎄🐾 That Face You Make When You Get a Treat for Doing Absolutely Nothing! 🐾🎄

Swipe ➡️ to see the exact look your pet gives when they score a holiday snack just for being so stinkin’ cute! 😍🎅
