It’s a truly sad day here at Nomad’s…. Olaf the white wolf has moved on to the great Tundra in the sky. I wish he had a shot at a free life like all wolves deserve. We rescued him and his wife Elsa from an awful place in Florida. The temporary home he was in (which was a great place) received them when they were confiscated from a “puppy mill”(wolf pups can sell for thousands each). They were being kept in a dog kennel where they could barely move around and were in inches of their own f***s. He had joint issues since we got him because they were only feeding them dog food. Wolves have to have at least a 50% meat diet. That was 6 years ago we got him. He never fully trusted people and has struggled with health issues on and off his entire time with us. Because of his distrust of people it was always hard to help him and medicate him. He is survived by his wife Elsa and his son Spanky. The wolves of Nomads are howling today in sorrow. We hope his years with us were happy ones. He knew love, a good meal every day, the ability to have a larger area, and I hope he knew we cared…He passed in the night with his wife next to him. This is another reason why I am happy we are closing soon… many people won’t see this post and when they come to visit again they will ask an innocent question “hey where’s Olaf” ..I will be having a normal day but the devastation will hit all over again. That process will happen over and over again. If you are new to our page, all of our animals are deemed unreleasable by the United States government for one reason or another. Many of our animals are on the older side and come to us with disabilities. It’s always hard getting attached and then seeing the inevitable result. We love you for visiting our home. If you visit in the near future, give the wolves some extra love. (PS. He was believed to have been between 14-16 years old. We don’t know his exact age when we got him)
