Hi everybody! A new hunting season has begun and many of you have already returned from hunting trips. I just returned myself from a successful elk hunt in Colorado!
Since I was on my hunting trip, I wasn’t able to setup a booth at our Buck Fever event for the first time in probably 15 years. Just wanted to let everybody know that we are still here and open for business! We are wrapping up the last few 2020-21 mounts now and ready for another great year!
A few changes to look for this year:
1. Our shop hadn’t moved, but we built a house down the road and are about to move in next month. So please call ahead when dropping off/picking up so we can arrange a time. I will not be there for late night drop offs anymore without prior arrangements.
2. For the last 3 years, I’ve absorbed supply cost increases and not risen my prices. This year, taxidermy has seen supply costs take a big jump, just as all businesses have. To keep the high quality that my customers are used to, I’m forced to adjust my prices this year. A new pricing list will be available shortly on my website, or you can call always call.
3. Last season I had to repair skins on over 50% of the deer brought in. Small cuts and normal repairs are understandable, but improper skinning cuts are not. I’m referring to mainly cutting the legs & brisket areas wrong, which requires a lot of extra time sewing to fix, and is usually noticeable in the final product. There will now be a repair fee, depending on the difficulty of the repairs. If you aren’t sure how to properly skin an animal, please call me and I will explain how to do it. I will also post a diagram, as I do every year, so we can try and avoid these problems as much as possible.
Thank you all for the continued business and have a great, successful hunting season!
