A TAIL OF THREE KITTIES - as told by their foster 🥰
"Three beautiful kittens were born in a backyard in Laveen. The kind man who lived in the home waited until the kittens were old enough to be away from their mom and then scooped them up and contacted the local animal shelter. He was advised that these babies would be euthanized upon intake because they were overcrowded.
Brokenhearted, the man called his daughter in Flagstaff and explained the situation. She jumped in her car and fought back tears as she made the 3 ½ hour drive to her father’s home. She picked up the kittens and headed north where she stopped at the pet store in the Village of Oak Creek.
The shop owner agreed to take the kittens and immediately contacted me, besides being her friend, I am also a foster mom for the Humane Society of Sedona. I couldn’t say no to kittens in need, so I agreed to take them and hoped our shelter would be willing to help – which they did without hesitation.
I was told to bring the kittens in for the vet to examine, if they weighed enough, they would be altered that day. I had a previous appointment to have my dogs groomed on the same day, so I called my groomer and explained why I might be a little late and headed to the shelter. The vet checked the kittens who were healthy, but not ready for surgery yet and I headed to the groomers.
When I arrived, the groomer and her assistant (both previous adopters) were anxious to see the kittens. It took one look for my groomer to fall in love with beautiful Bella! She needed to talk to her husband and make sure he was amenable to a new addition. I left the dogs and went home. About an hour later, the groomer called and was thrilled to tell me her husband had agreed to the adoption. She also asked me to take some photos of the other two because her assistant’s adult daughter had been looking for a kitten and they felt certain she’d fall in love with one of them.
So, I texted some pictures. When I went to pick up my dogs, both women were grinning at me and couldn’t wait to let me know they were going to adopt all three! So, in less than a week’s time, these beautiful babies went from being threatened with euthanasia to having wonderful, loving homes waiting for them when they became available. Thanks to Humane Society of Sedona for not turning their backs on animals in need!"
We love this story. We love our fosters. We love our adopters. We love this community! Thank you for making our mission possible, every single day 🙏💗
