🧡 Hot Take: Cats Aren’t Disrespectful
🐱 Cats Aren’t Misbehaving: They are communicating something is wrong. Every “bad” behavior is a response to their environment. If something’s off, it’s not defiance, it’s a message. As their guardian, how you show up matters.
🐱 Cats Aren’t Mean: They are fierce predators without access to hunting. If your cat’s biting or attacking, congrats, you have a cat doing exactly what they were built to do. You can’t “train” away instincts, but you can offer more appropriate alternatives like playtime.
🐱 Cats Aren’t Stubborn: They thrive with consent & having bodily autonomy. Is your cat stubborn or do you just have unrealistic expectations? Cats thrive when they have control over their bodies & space. If they’re not responding the way you want, maybe the problem isn’t them.
🐱 Cats Aren’t Destructive: They are just bored. You need to start seeing from your cat’s perspective: are they getting the stimulation, outlets, & freedom they crave? If your cat is acting out, it’s not mischief, it’s unmet needs. Enrich their world & you’ll see a positive change.
🐱 Cats Aren’t Spiteful: They are reacting to their environment or from fear. Avoiding the litter box? Hiding? Acting “off”? That’s not revenge, it’s stress, fear, or even pain. Behavior is communication. Don’t punish, pay attention. What’s going on in their world that needs fixing?
