💔 Kermit deserves a fresh start. And she needs your help to get one.

Next week, this sweet 3-year-old English Bulldog will make her way to Colorado and into the care of 4 Paws 4 Life. When she arrived at a crowded Houston shelter, she was carrying more than most dogs should ever have to: hair loss, a neck wound, a C-section scar from raising puppies... and heartworms.

We don’t know everything Kermit has been through, but we do know she’s done raising babies. She’s done fighting for survival. And she’s about to start a brand-new chapter where her only job is being loved.

Like many dogs coming out of the South, Kermit is heartworm positive. The good news? Heartworm disease is treatable.

Unfortunately, she’s not the only one.

Right now, we have SEVEN heartworm-positive dogs in our care: Kermit, Bea, Beth, Johan Creek, Meatloaf, Reny Clark, and Lady. Treatment for each dog typically costs $500–$1,000, and we’ve already spent more than $5,000 on heartworm treatment this year alone. Our goal is to raise another $5,000 to cover the dogs currently in our program. ❤️

Here’s the amazing part: A longtime supporter has offered to MATCH EVERY DONATION, so every dollar you give will go twice as far.

Heartworm disease is preventable, but for many dogs entering overcrowded shelters, prevention simply wasn’t available. With treatment, these dogs can go on to live long, healthy, happy lives.

No more puppies for Kermit. And soon, no more heartworms. ❤️

We are currently overflowing with adorable, adoptable cats and kittens looking for homes! Tiny chaos gremlins. Professional purr machines. Biscuit makers. Window watchers. Lap warmers. Independent queens. We truly have a little bit of everything. ❤️

Many of these cats and kittens have overcome difficult starts in life, and now they're ready for families of their own. Each pic will let you know if a cat will be there on Saturday.

We're also hoping to help as many animals as possible find homes before the busy Fourth of July holiday. Every adoption creates space for another pet in need, allowing us to continue saying "yes" when animals need us most.

Each photo caption will let you know whether that dog plans to attend the event on Saturday. The dogs coming on Sunday will depend on who gets adopted Saturday! 🐶

Noreen is the kind of dog who is always carrying something around. Usually it's a plush toy, occasionally it's her dignity after tripping over her own feet during playtime. 🧸🐶

This girl is full of life and always looking for something fun to do. She loves soft toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. If there's a game happening, Noreen would like to be included. If there's a treat involved, she'd like to be first in line.

When meeting new people, she can be a little reserved at first. She likes a moment to check things out before deciding you're her friend. Fortunately, that process doesn't take long. Once she settles in, her playful, affectionate personality comes out and she's happy to be wherever her people are.

Noreen appears to be potty trained and has been enjoying the comforts of home life, especially the couch after a busy day. Like many young dogs, she's still figuring out that enthusiasm and manners are not always the same thing. She may jump up when she's excited or get a little mouthy during play, but she's very food motivated and eager to learn.

She'd love a home that appreciates a dog with energy, personality, and a sense of humor. Whether she's carrying around a stuffed toy, following you from room to room, or convincing you she deserves one more treat, Noreen has a way of making herself part of the action.

If you're looking for a fun dog who is past the tiny puppy stage but still has plenty of youthful spirit, Noreen is ready to apply for the position.

Today we're celebrating all the dads out there—and giving a special shoutout to the dads who have opened their hearts to rescue animals.

Whether you're an adopter, foster, volunteer, donor, or the classic "I didn't want a dog" dad who somehow became the dog's favorite person, thank you for helping give so many animals the love, safety, and second chances they deserve.

We hope you have a wonderful Father's Day surrounded by family, friends, and maybe a furry sidekick or two. 🐾

We love getting adoption updates. 💗

There is nothing sweeter than seeing animals we love thriving in their forever homes. Boat days, snow days, park days... every day is a little brighter with a rescue pup by your side!

It takes a village to get these animals to this point. From the people who help them off the streets, to shelter staff and volunteers, transport volunteers, veterinarians, fosters, rescue volunteers, donors, and adopters—so many people play a role in giving these pets a second chance.

We are incredibly grateful for every person who helps make this work possible, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing that collective effort turn into happy pets and happy families.

Meet Rookie, the easygoing teen cat who has already mastered the art of relaxation (pics 2 + 3 are Rookie chilling with Rarity, also adoptable!) 🐱

This handsome orange guy is social, friendly, and always happy to make new friends. Rookie has a laid-back personality that makes him a pleasure to be around. Whether he's hanging out with people or spending time with other cats, he takes everything in stride and fits right in.

Rookie doesn't mind being held and enjoys the attention that comes with having a family of his own. While he appreciates affection, he's also perfectly content lounging nearby and keeping an eye on everything happening around him.

One of Rookie's favorite places to be is at the very top of a cat tree. From his lofty perch, he can supervise the household, watch the world go by, and enjoy a well-earned nap. If your home has a tall cat tree, he'll consider it a major bonus!

With his sweet nature, easygoing attitude, and love for feline friends, Rookie is ready to bring companionship and charm to his forever home. All that's missing is a family to share it with.

Rookie was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He is a 7-month-old domestic shorthair.

⭐️ If there was a pup of the month award at 4P4L, Ace would probably win it. ⭐️

Seriously. We adore this dog.

Ace is one of those rare pups who seems to make a fan everywhere he goes. Staff love him. Volunteers love him. His foster loves him. And pretty much anyone who spends more than five minutes with him suddenly finds themselves asking, "Wait... why hasn't he been adopted yet?"

At just a year old, Ace has the perfect balance of playful and easygoing. He loves other dogs, enjoys a good game of tug, happily carries his toys around the house, and can often be found rolling around in the grass living his best life.

While he can be a little shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his sweet, affectionate personality to shine. Once you're in his circle, expect kisses, cuddles, and a loyal shadow who wants nothing more than to be near his people.

Ace is house trained, crate trained, walks nicely on leash, knows basic commands, and has settled beautifully into foster care. He's truly the total package.

The hardest thing about Ace is figuring out why he's still here.

If you're looking for a best friend, a cuddle buddy, a hiking partner, a dog friend for your current pup, or just an all-around wonderful companion, we'd love for you to meet him.

We have a feeling whoever adopts Ace is going to wonder how they ever lived without him. ❤️
