Chicken tends to be a protein that many people avoid because they think their dog has an allergy/sensitivity to it; however, a true chicken allergy is relatively uncommon in dogs, affecting roughly 10%. We have seen time and time again a person who thought their dog couldn't have chicken do well on Steve's chicken diet.

A few things that make Steve's chicken more digestible comes down to a few things:
🐔 Diet and Feed: Free-range chickens that get a more natural diet of grains, seeds, and insects produce healthier meat with a better balance of nutrients compared to those solely fed processed, high-corn or soy-based feeds

🐔 Living Conditions: Chickens raised in crowded, unsanitary conditions are more prone to stress and disease, affecting the overall quality and safety of the meat. Pasture-raised or free-range chickens tend to be healthier.

🐔 Use of Additives: Some producers use additives and preservatives to enhance the appearance and shelf life of chicken meat, which can compromise its natural quality.

❌ Because it is still a common concern that the use of antibiotics and growth hormones can lead to residues in the meat and impact its quality, it's worth mentioning that those are banned from being in pet food, so that shouldn't be an issue with any chicken diet.

🐕🍽️ Steve’s Real Food frozen raw diets should be fed thawed. It’s important not to cook the food as it harms valuable enzymes and nutrients. Ground bone is in every recipe, which should only be fed raw. To serve, you can portion up to 3 days of food to thaw in the fridge overnight and serve the next day. You can mix in hot water (not boiling) or bone broth for a warmer meal. Warming enhances aromas, making meals enticing for picky eaters and aids in digestion, which is especially beneficial for seniors, puppies, and dogs with digestive sensitivities.
