Gonatista grisea, also known as the grizzled mantis is one of the best USA native mantids ever! Friendly, fierce, and flat haha. This little critter is an incredible ambush predator-mimicking lichen and bark patterns and becoming seemingly invisible when on the side of a tree or branch. We placed one on a pretty flower for you so you can actually see this little mantis. We have lots of nymphs!
The word, “cockroach” scares off so many people, however some species are quite cute, just like this domino roach!

On the site we have some fun stuff available! Ghost mantis, Giant Asian Mantis (excellent for beginners), Blue Death Feigning beetles (literally the easiest pet on the planet), Regal Jumping Spiders, and Banana Slugs.
The banana slugs are marked as sold out but if you’re interested please message us. They require cold temperatures and we like to ensure they won’t overheat before shipping them out to new homes.
Just a friendly tip for future mantis owners—do not buy your fruit fly culture at the same time as your mantis. It is quite typical for a culture to take upwards of 2 weeks after arriving before it produces a healthy amount of flies. You want to be able to feed your new mantis the same day they arrive. Even if you do get a culture that is already producing flies, they last several weeks, so you don’t have to worry about “wasting it” before your mantis arrives. If you are able to get flies in person, this most likely is not an issue for you. However, many people rely on buying their cultures online. We hope this info can help new mantis keepers out!
Pseudovates chlorophaea. And now we wait...
What a prosperous day for Fun-Sized Zoo! Today we had 3 Carolina ooths, 1 Rhombohedra basalis, 1 Parasphendale affinis, and 1 Creobroter gemmatus ooth hatch. Holy smokes!!
We have some popa spurca nymphs on the secret menu! These won’t be going up on the site or anywhere else, it’s a Facebook offer only!
What the heck is that? Is that her excuse for an ooth 😂 oh goodness. Tiny but mighty!?
I must add, this was just moments after disconnecting! We must have missed the disconnect from the male by less than 90 minutes. (Only reason she isn’t in her popsicle stick jungle)
Texas Unicorn Mantis - can you believe this alien lives in our own (USA) backyard! We finally found a pretty lady for this handsome fellow!
Gymnetis Thula, an absolutely stunning USA native beetle. Our second favorite USA beetle behind the blue death feigning beetle. These little critters are adorable and couldn’t be easier to care for. They eat bananas and only require mistings about once per week, twice at the most. Coconut fiber is all the adults need for substrate. Cleaning their enclosure is super easy too because their waste (compacted dry pellets) is very easily removed. Super cute and easy to handle, but watch out, sometimes the males take off on you. Luckily, they suck at flying and usually land only a few feet away after buzzing around in circles😂
Blueberries or the world’s easiest pet? What if we told you there was a pet that was cute, didn’t need any mistings, no water dish, could live for 5 years off of apples and fish food flakes, didn’t need a large enclosure, and did best when living with others of its own kind. Oh, they can be held by you too, of course! Meet the blue death feigning beetle! A very easy-to-handle beetle that thrives when living with others. If you want to acquire this beetle or would like more info on this cute critter, shoot us a message!
Thank you Mother Nature for giving us such beautiful creatures. Happy Earth day everyone!
Idolomantis - Can you believe this mantis is actually still on the smaller end. It will nearly double in size by time it reaches full maturity.
I caught an orchid mantis! Our friendship is blooming!
(Available soon! Check out our site for other adorable critters!)
They’ve been going for 19 hours! Creobroter Gemmatus 🌺
New Inventory! Our Brunners have started to molt to L2! We will be sending them out in the first week of April. This species is one of our favorites. They are the only mantis species known to reproduce solely through parthenogenesis - that means no males! Shoot us a PM if you’re interested! We also have a handful of other species available as well.
This beautiful lady has laid us some nice ooths! She’s been such a good little mantis

no matter how many species we own or breed, ghosts will always be one of our favorites!
