Established in 1986, the Seal Beach Animal Care Center is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter committed to finding permanent, loving homes for all the animals that come into our care. Our staff of dedicated volunteers ensures the animals are kept as comfortable as possible until they can be placed into new adoptive homes. As a no-kill animal shelter, getting through each day is an accomplishment.

While the SBACC primarily serves the City of Seal Beach, we attract adopters from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties, in addition to networking with other shelters, rescue groups, and animal sanctuaries across the country. We believe that through adoption counseling and education, we are helping to create a community that cares for animals with responsibility and compassion.

Meet the Q family - Mama Quara and her three kittens Quasi, QTPie, and Quest! Quara was rescued from the street by a lovely family who didn't realize she was pregnant! She delivered five kittens; the family kept two of them and brought Quara and the other three to us. Quara is not even a year old yet, and all of them are friendly, playful, and used to kids! 🌟Job Opportunity🌟

The Seal Beach Animal Care Center (SBACC) has a very active kitten foster program, and we are in search of a new Foster Care Coordinator.

SBACC receives and adopts out approximately 150-200 kittens per year, and there is no way we could do it without our foster coordinator. This is a position that manages intakes and the vetting process for the kittens to be adoption-ready, so attention to detail and organization are key. Our foster coordinator is also part mentor, checking in with foster parents and being on call when problems arise. This can be a critical position for the kittens under the coordinator's management.

This position requires being on call at least five days a week by phone. Must have the ability to navigate fosters through critical emergency situations.

Our current foster coordinator has been part of the SBACC family for over 10 years. She is retiring and these will be big shoes to fill. We are seeking someone interested in a long-term role to keep our kitten program running strong. Please find the complete position details attached.

Johnson has a forever home! This sweet, friendly cat was just left on someone's porch, and the neighbors who were feeding him became concerned for his safety and brought him to us. I’m Esteban, who along with my brother Ernesto (he was featured in a post a couple days ago!), older brother Boy George and our mama EmmyLou, were found living in someone’s yard when rescued. We had a respiratory infection, lice and intestinal bugs! After lots of meds and time, we’re finally all better and ready for our forever homes. I’m a friendly, affectionate boy who likes to play and get pets. Ernesto and I have been together all our lives and need to go to our forever home together.

We had a very special adoption yesterday - Misty and Ramsey! They first arrived at SBACC as 12-week-old kittens and were adopted a few months later. They had a home for over 13 years until Mom got very sick and entered hospice. Sadly, no one could give them a home, so they were returned. Now almost 15 years old and on a special diet and medications, it seemed that they might be spending the rest of their days with us. But this lovely young woman was taken with their story, applied for them, and drove nearly 100 miles to take them home! We are beyond thrilled that these sweet cats will have a home of their own again! 😻

Hi, I’m Pearl, a shy girl who likes to play, but if there are too many visitors in the room (or kitties that are running around acting wild), I’ll probably watch the action from an out of the way spot. Now that the weather is warming up, I’ve been spending more time out on the catio, watching for lizards and birds and napping in the sun. I’ll be two years old soon, and would love to find my forever home, especially one with another young cat for a companion.

I’m Ernesto, who along with my brother Esteban, older brother Boy George and our mama EmmyLou, were found living in someone’s yard when rescued. He’s made friends with some of the other shy kitties, finding comfort in their companionship. He’s hoping to find a home with a patient family and another young cat for a buddy.
