Living in Arizona means enjoying beautiful weather, but it also means being aware of Valley Fever, a fungal disease that can affect both dogs and cats.

While it’s impossible to completely eliminate the risk, here are a few ways to help protect your pets:

✅ Avoid letting pets dig in dry, dusty soil
✅ Limit outdoor activity during dust storms and windy days
✅ Keep pets indoors when construction or landscaping is stirring up dirt nearby
✅ Use gravel, grass, or ground cover to reduce dust in your yard
✅ Watch for signs such as coughing, lethargy, decreased appetite, weight loss, or limping

Early detection can make a big difference. If your pet is showing symptoms or just doesn’t seem like themselves, contact your veterinarian.

One pet steals a technician’s heart.
Another makes the whole lobby laugh.
A shy rescue learns people aren’t so scary.
A feral cat gets a second chance.
