The last couple of weeks have brought a lot of change for all of us.

Our Norwell and Scituate clients have been partying together at the Scituate shop! We’re all settling in. It hasn’t been perfectly seamless because real life rarely is and also because... dogs.

More than anything we’re just happy to have everyone together. Familiar faces, new faces and a whole lot of dogs making themselves right at home.

Thank you to our clients for being patient with us through the transition while we find our new rhythm. We’re getting there and we can’t wait to share some fun things on the horizon!

I'm still processing all of what is going on but I wanted to take a minute and thank everyone for the support.

I also want to brag on my team, they have been such incredible badasses throughout all of this. None of any of this would be possible without them. Their dedication to the dogs and to Recurve itself, is inspiring.

The calls, texts, emails and words of encouragement have been humbling. I can’t find the words to describe exactly how much it really and truly means to me but I love you all 🐾🥰

Some dreams don't end the way you planned...

A year ago, we opened the doors to our Norwell location with huge plans for the future. We poured everything we had into it. Then came contractor fraud, theft on multiple fronts, construction delays, permit delays, setback after setback and challenge after challenge. We fought for this building every single day.

Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose.

It pi**es me off that this is how this chapter ends.

But I refuse to let it be the end of the whole story.

This week will be our final week operating out of Norwell as we consolidate everything back into our Scituate location.

Recurve was never about a building. It has always been about the dogs, especially the ones everyone else gives up on and the people who trust us to help them.

That isn't changing.

If anything, this has reminded me exactly why I started doing this in the first place.

So here's to closing one chapter and getting back to what matters most. Doing what we do, better than anyone else.

We'll see you in Scituate.

☀️ Tis the season for fireworks! Though you may want your dog to be out and enjoying the fun with you, here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. It's HOT🔥- the beach and other public gathering places are not as enjoyable for our furry friends. 🏖 Loud noises and crowds can be overwhelming. But most importantly in the summertime, the beach in particular is WAY TOO HOT FOR DOGS! 🔥 A dogs normal body temperature is about 102🌡- so its super easy for them to overheat. Leave 'em at home in the AC with a licki mat, kong or other delicious frozen treat. 🍦
2. Fireworks are NOT FUN FOR DOGS!🚫 Fireworks are terrifying and disorienting for dogs. Even if your dog is perfectly polite offleash, if you must have them out, keep them on a leash (there's a leash law anyway and not all dogs want to be accosted by other dogs) for safety. The loud bangs and bright flashes will cause even the most confident of canines to bolt. 🐕‍🦺
3. To drown out the noise of Fireworks, keep the AC, TV or radio on and use fans as extra background white noise. 📺🧊📻
4. If your dog needs medication (that you should have called in WAY before the week before the 4th) make sure to give it well before the Fireworks start! 💊
5. If you've got a crate use it! Your dog will be safe and feel secure while enjoying a frozen treat. 😊 💕🐕🐾

🇺🇸 Holiday Update! 🇺🇸

Our Scituate location will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3rd but don't worry!

🎉 The party is at Norwell! 🎉

The whole Recurve crew will be together in Norwell for a fun filled day before the holiday and we'd love to see all of our pups there!

Today's Collective was a huge success! Today we integrated some of our littles into the larger group. Watching dogs of different sizes, personalities and backgrounds learn to communicate and simply exist together is always incredible to see!

One of the most important parts of the Collective is that owners don't talk to their dogs. No constant cues, no reassurance, no micromanaging. Just the opportunity for dogs to process the environment, work through uncertainty and learn how to cope with the world around them while their handlers learn to trust the process.

The Collective is as much a learning experience for the humans as it is for the dogs. It teaches patience, observation, timing and the value of allowing dogs to be dogs.

We're so proud of every team that joined us this morning and the progress we watched unfold throughout the session!

A HUGE shoutout to our handlers, who work tirelessly behind the scenes helping these dogs build confidence, social skills and better relationships with their people every day.

Thank you all for spending your rainy Saturday morning with us. We had an absolute blast. ❤️

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your dog is say nothing at all and let them figure it out. 🐾

Saturday Collective is coming 👀

I honestly love these because it’s one of the few times I get to just stand back and do what I started this business to do. Watching dogs come into their own is the best part. The quiet moments, the little confidence boosts, the dogs who start out unsure and then suddenly decide “okay... maybe this isn’t so bad.”

No chaos. Just dogs existing together and figuring things out.

Also... I may or may not have a pretty big surprise that day! Some of you are probably going to figure it out before I say anything but I’m wicked excited about this one!!

Just a reminder that both Recurve K9 locations will be CLOSED for daycare on Monday in observance of Memorial Day 🇺🇸🐾
As we head into the long weekend, we also want to take a moment to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing weekend filled with good weather, good dogs and maybe a small amount of shenanigans.😎

Some dogs come to us loud, chaotic and outwardly explosive.

Others come in quiet. Watching. Holding their breath. Waiting for the world to prove them right about being unsafe.

Blue is here for our behavior modification program and right now, some of the biggest victories are the smallest moments:
- choosing to lay down instead of pacing
- taking a breath
- resting near a person
- letting her nervous system soften for a minute

Behavior work is rarely about creating a “perfect” dog.

Most of the time, it’s about helping a dog feel safe enough to exist in the world without carrying the weight of fear everywhere they go.

And for dogs like Blue, that kind of trust is earned slowly, quietly and with a whole lot of patience. 🤍
