Meet Ms. Maeby!🐱 Maeby is a young girl, guessed to be about 2-years-old. She just weaned what will be her last litter of kittens. This once neighborhood cat is so happy with the indoor life and the comforts of a home. She is affectionate and friendly, an overall really fun cat! 🩷

Current resident Guapo has a reminder for you! 👇

Please be sure to MICROCHIP your pet! The Scituate Animal Shelter microchips all of the animals that come to the shelter and it is important for several reasons:

1) Animals can get easily distracted and chase another pet or critter (hello 🐿)
2) Loud noises like thunder or fireworks often trigger an escape reaction 💥
3) Unexpected events like earthquakes, fires and floods can force us to evacuate or keep us from our homes, causing potential separation from our pets 🔥

The best thing you can do to ensure that your pet gets home safely is to get them microchipped. Most veterinary hospitals and animal shelters can scan a microchip in your pet, search the various microchip registration databases, and reach you if your pet is found ❤️

What do you do if you find a turtle in the road???👇
* Don't pick up snapping turtles! Guide them across the road with a floor mat from your car.

If an animal needs to be moved, move it to the other side of the road in the same direction it was going. You can lift them by using the "hamburger technique" or you can use a car mat to help the turtle across the road without actually picking them up. By using a car mat or putting something under the turtle, you can slide the turtle in the direction it was going.

ADOPTION UPDATE 😍

"I adopted Carmella (now Minnow) after she was supposed to be a foster only. Did I need another dog, let alone a puppy, no. Is she a perfect fit to my pack, yes! She’s growing up and now weighs in at a hefty 4.3lbs. She’s graduated puppy preschool, graduates day school today and is enrolled in puppy kindergarten. She comes to work with me often and just loves life."

💙💙 Long awaited adoption update!! 💙💙

Chewy found his family!

"It was clear to us when we met Chewie on Monday it was a yes and since bringing him home it has become even more of a yes and perfect match! Chewie has already made himself very at home and it feels like we have had him forever! He is the sweetest and most loveable guy! Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt him! And as you can see he really enjoyed his first work from home day in his bed!"

Meet Coraline!

Coraline is a sweet as pie lady. This lovely cat was saved from a life of breeding after being given away, pregnant with her third litter. She recently weaned her kittens and is looking for a home of her own!

We think Coraline is about 2-years-old. A young cat with plenty of s***k left! Her biggest flaw is that she steals food off the counter, so be prepared to lock away your favorite things so they aren't scooped up by this adorable thief.

Coraline was in a foster with a dog and co existed just fine. She has also previously lived with another cat.

Zoey is a precious 6-month-old Golden Retriever looking for a special, loving home to work on some things she missed out on during her tiny puppy months.

While Zoey is incredibly sweet with humans, she has a lot of fear from the outside world. She finds cars passing by scary and meeting dogs really frightens her. She is very nervous on car rides but tolerates them. She does not walk well on a leash, but with the use of a harness she has been learning.

Zoey needs a quiet place that will expose her to more around her environment. She may be able to live with another dog, but she is fearful to start and doesn't know how to engage in regular dog play. We are unsure about cats but she does have a puppy side and is very exuberant.

Zoey seems to be housebroken and keeps a very clean kennel.

We have seen Zoey be intense over some high value treats. We will counsel the new adopter on trading and being safe when Zoey gets in the zone. Because of this, we will not be placing Zoey with toddlers or young children.

Zoey is currently on eye medication and allergy medication. We are hoping this improves the swelling around her eyes. She may require an opthomologist in the future, that will be something Zoey's new home can discuss with their veterinarian.

While Zoey has some learning to do, she is overall a bubbly, sweet golden with tons of potential to be an amazing companion. Email [email protected] to apply for this special girl.

SAS alums Stanley and Bruin approve of the "Stanley Pup" which will air TONIGHT (Friday, June 7) on NHL Network and ESPN+ at 8:00 p.m. ET.

In honor of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the NHL is partnering with a national nonprofit for the Stanley Pup – a friendly face-off featuring adoptable (and adorable) rescue dogs. 🐾

According to the league, all 32 NHL teams will be represented by a rescue dog, and many of them will be up for adoption in their respective cities. The 16 dogs representing the teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs will compete in the hour-long special.

Meet Lana!

Lana came to us as a stray dog that was never claimed. Since we have no history on her background, all we know is what we have seen since her stay at the shelter.

Overall Lana is a happy go lucky pup guessed to be about 5-years-old. She loves humans and is happy to meet anyone. She loves her walks outside and is overall a mellow lady.

Lana does not enjoy the company of other dogs. While she isn't aggressive and can safely be near them, she does not want to share her new space or hang out in dog parks. She wants to be the queen of her castle.

We have seen some behavioral issues that make Lana a bit more tricky to place. She showed significant food aggression during an evaluation. Because of this Lana cannot live with children. This is not something that can be trained out of her, it will be managed by her new humans and we will work with the adopters to ensure everyone is safe.

Despite a few quirks, Lana is a nice little dog. Email [email protected] to apply.
