Community Animal Action Project

Community Animal Action Project We are a small group of animal advocates who are working for the betterment of animals in the Warren-Washington-Saratoga counties of upstate New York.

We work with local communities to find solutions to overpopulation and assist in the re-homing of pets. CAAP is not a shelter, nor do we focus on the intake of animals. Our focus is on working with people in our communities to find solutions to animal overpopulation, and to assist in the the re-homing of animals. CAAP has several goals. The first goal is the development of an income-qualified, low

-cost spay/neuter program and being able to underwrite these services for those most needy, based on the availability of funds. Our other goals are as follows:

* Serving as a community resource to aid in recognizing and reporting animal cruelty;
* Supporting community members involved in the rescue of homeless animals;
* Providing public education on issues affecting animals; and
* Promoting laws that positively affect animals. Volunteer positions include the following:

* Helping with fundraising
* Transporting animals
* Trapping and releasing of feral cats

Donations are always most appreciated and always accepted! Most specifically, we appreciate donations of the following items:

* Towels
* Blankets
* Cat food
* Cat litter
* Cat carriers and cages
* Live-release traps
* Monetary donations. If you are interested in volunteering or making a donation, please contact us at: [email protected] or message us through Facebook. Donations may be sent to:

At this time of year, the odds of coming across a kitten outdoors go way up! While so many good samaritans want to step in and help a kitten or kittens found cold and alone, here are a couple of important reminders! First, if you find a group of kittens, mom might not be far away but hiding from you. Kittens remaining with moms is always best! Second, a kitten that is shivering and cold needs to be warmed up before any other interventions are tried. Providing warmth is the highest priority for a kitten in distress. Trying to feed replacement formula to a cold kitten can cause their body to shut down completely. The graphic below provides great information on how to assess temperature and warm properly before feeding is attempted. Gums should be pink and paws should feel warm before food is offered. This extra step can be the difference between life and death.
