This really infuriates me! The only news media that covered the sentencing for this POS was The Daily Herald, and we cant even share it unless you have a subscription. Before it was followed and talked about on most news sources. Is it because the news has it splashed all over about the owner? Does that mean the animals life means less?

At least he has been convinced of the Felony-mistreatment of animal causing death. This is a big step! Granted it would have been nice for a longer sentence, but still a win.
This case can be reference in new felony animal mistreatment cases around Wisconsin. Now more voices for the animals can be heard.

WAUSAU − A former Wausau man was sentenced to 60 days in jail for mistreatment of his former girlfriend's cat in 2021 leading to the cat's death .

Andrew M. Gehr, 34, currently of Mankato, Minnesota, pleaded no contest Feb. 19 to mistreatment of an animal causing death. As part of a plea agreement, a misdemeanor count of intentionally mistreating an animal was dismissed but considered during sentencing.

Marathon County Circuit Judge Gregory Strasser ordered Gehr to serve 60 days in jail with credit for 45 days already served. Strasser also ordered Gehr to spend 18 months on probation and complete 90 days of community service to involve animals. Strasser also ordered Gehr not to possess any animals or pets.

Update on the discussion today with the DA. It is now not at all going to trial- they will come up with an agreement at Sentencing. The options are 18 months probation, which he is fighting for or 9 months jail, which i feell isnt even close to enough but whatever. I saw pictures and evidence I haven’t seen and it was absolutely horrific, and I’d like to say he doesn’t have a chance for just probation, but I know the justice system is quite often not fair. If a judge looks at all the evidence and witness statements, and agrees with just probation, the system has failed her. So until then I will be praying he gets what he deserves, and I hope he Rots. To have 0 remorse and take 0 accountability is absolutely disgusting to me. I’ll get to say what I want to say that day, and you all know I won’t hesitate. Thank u all for the support you have given us these last few years and may justice be served. Also a thank you to the kind and empathetic district attorneys and police officers that were there today that took time to meet with me. I am a firm believer that if this doesn’t go the way I want it to, it will be ok- you can’t do these types of things with little repercussions.

Here’s the confession to his PO. The supervisor found it not necessary to revoke him, allowed him to move to a different state. Also told me this cannot be used in court. This cat would never hurt a soul, and if she did bite him, it was because he was abusing her and she was defending herself.. so she stuck up for herself and that gives him the right to hit her and kill her?
