Copper's body language is so expressive, especially his facial expressions. Not just his smiles when he greets people he adores, but his other facial expressions too, like when he shows submissiveness.
A dog may lower its head and body, looking upward with its eyes, to communicate non-threatening intent and acknowledge a subordinate position, a form of submission to an individual of higher regard. Copper always gives me these looks, and it's so cute!
He will also aften put his paw on me, like in the picture. A dog putting its paw on you can be a form of submissive behavior also, but it more commonly signifies affection, attention-seeking, or a way to communicate a need. It is often a gesture of trust, especially when accompanied by other signs of submission like a lowered posture, but can also be a request for more petting or an invitation to play. In this case, since I'm familiar with his body language, Copper is communicating to me not only submission and trust, but also that he's seeking attention and wants more petting. This is because Dingo was just nearby, and he wants all the attention, LOL.
