Thank you to everyone who stopped by Fehr Farm for our Open House yesterday!

We enjoyed wonderful food 🍲 , walked the farm 🌱, painted 🎨 , talked, laughed and ate in the rain🌧️. We shared cherry tomatoes and honey from the farm for folks to take!

Ever wondered what an urban farm looks like in the city of Schenectady? We encourage everyone to come and visit us!

We’re hosting our first Open House of the season on Thursday (8/20) from 5:30-7pm at our Fehr Ave Farm located near Central Park.

Did you know? Fehr is one of three of our farm sites located in Schenectady! At Fehr, we have composting 🪱, a free food fridge 🍏, a solar powered cooler ☀️ , our chickens 🐔 , bee hives 🍯 and so much more for you to check out! (we’re pretty cool 😎)

Yesterday, Schenectady Urban Farms tabled at Via-Port Aquarium to celebrate World Bee Day! 🐝

This is a day dedicated to highlight the crucial role of all bees and pollinators in biodiversity and global food production.

We brought an active beehive alongside some of our extracted organic honey from our Fehr apiary. We had a fun rock painting activity and educational facts on display to learn more about honeybees!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to celebrate and learn more. Be sure to give gratitude to pollinators for all they do, not for only us but ecosystems worldwide! 🐝 🍯 🌼

This past Monday, we held a special event for our members to help our apiary team extract honey from our beehives!

Did you know: Apiary means “place of bees”, a location where bees are kept. That place for us is Fehr Farm!

Everyone got to help with the extraction process with hands-on learning and take a bottle of organic honey with them at the end! 🐝🍯

Today at Fehr Farm we took time to express gratitude for the land and our abundant harvest season. 🌾

We shared delicious meals, conversations, and weaved together. Members also got to take harvested onions, leafy greens, potatoes and garlic grown on our farms!

Thank you to Archdruid Jeremiah Lennox for leading a wonderful ceremony and to everyone who joined us today to celebrate the first harvest, Lughnasadh. 👩‍🌾🪻

Here’s a peek at our fruit trees at the Vale Orchard! 🌳🍎

All the fruit trees and pollinator attracting perennials are happily drinking up the rain 🌧️. Members Deborah and Donna weeded and distributed compost this past week. The orchard has never looked better!

Dr. Bill Releford owns Bloom Ranch, a 250-acre property in Acton, Los Angeles County, recognized as the largest Black-owned ranch in the area. The ranch focuses on sustainable farming, produces fresh fruits and vegetables, and hosts community events like Sunday jazz and champagne brunches. 🌱🎷
