🆘 Wayne had a foster home lined up, but it looks as though it's no longer going to work out. 🆘 We don't want to leave Wayne behind at a shelter where he's at risk of not making it out! Can you save Wayne by opening your heart and home to him? He can go to a foster or foster-to-adopt home.

Wayne is around 1 year old and weighs 45 lbs. He is believed to be a Vizsla mix. Shelter staff and volunteers describe him as medium energy—the perfect mix of playful and calm. He is a friendly boy who is great with kids as well as adults. He also gets along with other dogs and is on the more timid side with them. Cat compatibility is unknown.

I said Whippet! Whippet good!

These 9-month-old pups are believed to be whippet mixes and they need homes. Can you help?

Precious (female, with more white) and Westley (male, mostly brown/black) are siblings who are NOT bonded and can go to separate homes. Precious weighs about 28 lbs, and Westley weighs about 35 lbs.

Unlike some rescue dogs, Precious and Westley have had a great start to life. Our rescue partner pulled their mom from a shelter and they were born the next day, so they've grown up in a caring foster home. They're both housebroken, crate trained, and have good recall. They also have just the right energy level - moderate - not couch potatoes but also not bouncing off the walls. They are great with people of all ages, other dogs, and cats.

Precious and Westley have little chance of being adopted down south (they've already waited a long time and have had no luck despite being wonderful dogs) and are hoping to come to AHF. They will make wonderful foster dogs or forever family members. And by taking one of them in, you'd be opening up a spot with our rescue partners for an at-risk shelter dog.

Hi, I’m Magnus 👋🧡

Yes, that’s me being a respectful young man at TjMaxx. I was just browsing for throw blankets and maybe…a forever family.

A few things about me, since we’re basically on a first date now:

• Certified Goofy Noodle Runner

Remi is a friendly and well-behaved girl looking for a forever home. 🐾

It's easy to see why Remi was a shelter favorite and why staff and volunteers fought so hard for her to make it to safety with a rescue. Her AHF foster mom reports she is the sweetest girl and has great house manners. 4-year-old, 40 lb. Remi is wonderful with other dogs and cats (she lives with both in her foster home). She loves all people and is good with kids. If you're looking for a cuddler, Remi's great at cuddling and will snooze happily next to you. She's already potty trained and crate trained! She learns commands quickly, loves treats, and takes them gently. She's an all-around good girl you'd be lucky to call yours!

Crosby is still hoping to join the AHF family. He can be fostered or adopted. Does anyone have room in their heart and home for him?

Crosby's owner abandoned him, along with a pet pig, when he moved. Now Crosby is stuck at a shelter where he's at risk of not making it out.

Crosby is approximately 1 year old and appears to be a shepherd mix. He weighs about 50 lbs. This handsome boy is equal parts sweet and silly. He loves people and is outgoing and good with everyone, including kids. Cat compatibility is unknown, but he has shown no interest in them when passing their cages at the shelter.

Crosby is energetic and playful and would do great with a family that wants a dog to play with or have join them on adventures--or that has a pup who would enjoy a playmate. He's ideal for an active person or family.

How could you not fall in love with this face? 🥰

Meet Ticker! She is an adorable 5 year old, 32-lb. beagle mix with a heart of gold. Despite a rough start, Ticker is super sweet with people and animals (although she may need a little extra time to warm up to men). In her foster home she lives with another dog and cats and gets along great with everyone. Another dog in her forever home would be a plus, and she would be best with adults or older kids who would be respectful and give her time to settle in at her new home. A backyard would also be ideal so Ticker can chase the squirrels and keep the neighborhood safe! When she arrived at Almost Home, Ticker was a little underweight, but has slowly been gaining to get to a healthier place. She would love to join you for car rides and often takes a little nap when going on errands. If you are looking for a sweet, faithful companion…look no further! Ticker is your gal and she is waiting for her forever home to enjoy!

CHLOE: I’m a sweet and playful girl who loves gentle pets on my head and back—those are my favorite! I’m not too fond of being picked up, but once I feel comfortable, I’ll happily come to you for affection and cuddles.

Playtime is the best part of my day! I can’t resist chasing string toys, batting pom poms, or diving through my tunnel to pop out and surprise you. I’m curious, silly, and always up for a little adventure.

The most important thing to know about me is that I’m bonded with my sister, Zoe. We’ve been together our whole lives and can’t imagine being apart. We’re looking for a calm, loving home where we can stay together and share our cozy naps and playful moments. Forever home wanted!

Zachary is a playful, ~6-month-old puppy looking for a forever home. He weighs about 28 lbs.

Zachary was rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama. Although shy and timid at first, he loves hugs and kisses when he gets to know you. It would be best to have another dog in the household to help Zachary come out of his shell.

Zachary goes potty outside on a schedule. He sleeps on his bed in the crate and never makes a mess there. He is working on leash training.

Zachary gets along very well with other dogs and would love a playmate and a yard to run and romp in. Playing with other dogs makes him so happy. He even loves cats! He's great with kids of all ages.

This beautiful gal is Zahra, and she is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Our rescue partner cannot say enough good things about her!

Zahra is approximately 2.5 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. She is gorgeous mix that includes catahoula and lab. Zahra was found at an abandoned home with her litter of puppies. She was anemic and had to be treated for tick disease. She had also been gnawing at herself because of a flea allergy. As if she hadn't been through enough, her puppies were rescued while she was left behind.

AHF thinks this very good girl deserves a second chance. Here's what we know about her:

🐾 She's good with people of all ages, including kids
🐾 She's great with other dogs! She has been in a temporary home with up to 9 dogs and is perfectly dog-friendly. She runs and plays but isn't rough. She will be good with other dogs but would also be fine on her own.
🐾 She has not been cat tested, but if you're seriously interested, we can arrange for her to be.
🐾 She's house trained.
🐾 She's kennel trained.
🐾 She knows how to walk on leash.
🐾 She will play but is not hyper at all. She's happy to lay around with you.
