đŸ’›âïžâš ïžLet’s talk about cats that p*e on things.

Number one: it’s really not a reason to give them up. If you don’t want your p*eing cat, neither do we, and neither does another adopter. That being said, I’ve had my share of inappropriately p*eing cats. Do I live in a disgusting hoarder house where it doesn’t matter bc I love cats and cat people don’t care about that stuff? NO. I must change the sheets on my spare bed 4x a week with my p*e cat of the year. In her case, she’s healthy but 400 years old and confused sometimes and that’s fine, we deal.

I went to my mom’s house tn to help her out with her 20 year old cat who has a UTI and is p*eing inappropriately. She goes through this, we medicate and she moves on after a few loads of laundry and an antibiotic shot.

My soul cat Ollie used to spray and p*e everywhere. She was a p*e nightmare but we worked through it and cleaned a little more. Rally the love of my life, he prefers pads next to the litter box, we change them and move on.

I’m telling you I could go on and on and on. My point is this. You adopted a cat. Now they’re not acting perfectly and you want them gone? If they had the ability to give you up and get a new owner everytime you didn’t feel well or felt anxious or got upset about something, I bet they wouldn’t.

If your cat is p*eing in places you’d prefer they didn’t p*e, try a vet visit. Checkout some bloodwork. Did you add or remove someone or something that might be upsetting them? Try anxiety meds, like Gabapentin or Prozac. Cats have very few ways to show they’re upset or feeling crappy, and p*eing is one of them. They can’t talk, they can’t make a dr appt, they can’t google “why do I feel like this”. Give them a break.

Don’t just give up on your cat because they no longer suit your needs or picture of a perfect pet. If you can’t handle these things please don’t adopt.

A beautiful senior angel came to us yesterday. Her name is Miki and she’s 14 years old. Her owner passed away and she needed more love and care than someone visiting her once a day. She’s absolutely perfect đŸ„ș Transitions like this are very hard for cats, especially seniors, so we are starting her in her own suite next door. She would love some visitors and lots of love, so if you’re in the area or looking to spend some time with a confused senior lady, stop by đŸ©· I have only know her for a day but I imagine she would do best in a nice, calm environment. Who wouldn’t!?

I received an email recently about a stray cat who a nice man had been caring for outside his apartment. The cat was always there. One day he looked injured so he brought him to the shelter where they took care of his medical needs, neutered him, vaccinated him, and sent lhim back out. They don’t always do this especially when the cat is friendly, but they’re absolutely packed with kittens and cats right now. There’s only so much rescues and shelters can do and many friendlies are being released.

Meet VELVET!!!!! He arrived last night and he’s the sweetest little guy!! He had half of his tail amputated due to an infected abscess and it makes him even cuter!! I really appreciate the shelter helping him, and this kind man David, for advocating for him. We all do our absolute best and I’m glad he reached out to us.

Disclaimer: Not all outdoor/strays are cafe candidates and not all of them will thrive or be happy inside. Velvet was assessed thoroughly and we think he will thrive here and find a great home đŸ©¶

Some people think all we do is sit around and pet cats all day and they’re WRONG!!! We provide enrichment activities! Stay tuned for kittens!!

Some cats have been here and grown so much since arriving here, that they’re like permanent residents with roles and jobs. But that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a real home. Kodiak and Spice have bonded so much lately and it’s adorable. Ones young(ish) ones old(ish), ones FIV+ ones not, ones skinny and ones stocky as hell. They’re opposites and they’re amazing together (& separate). Kodiak & Spice watch over the cafe for us, and welcome all of the cats as they come in. They keep things in line. They speak cat language when we fall short. They’re staff members (or maybe we are the staff members to them).

These guys would be really great in a home. Both are a little sick of being pet and woken up by random strangers and honestly they’ve paid their cafe dues. If anyone is looking for a semi elusive but also very sweet sensitive duo, these guys would be so great. They love a window and they love each other and other cats. They love to be pet and brushed, and we know their likes and dislikes like the back of our hands. I wanna say they’d love a safe yard or catio but I don’t wanna get yelled at by the anti outsiders.

They’re great cats period. Come see them, they’re within 6 inches of each other.

I love this kitten a lot. His name is Eclipse and he’s gonna be the biggest panther in the whole world. He came here 2 months ago and instantly got sick. He got really bad eye infections and just a really miserable kitten cold. He was an angel with his medications and face cleanings everyday but definitely was annoyed with me. He’s all better, and has grown to be everyone’s best friend. He’s 4 months old and you can just tell he’s gonna be HUGE. He’s the most gentle kitten and takes care of everyone in the Kitten Lounge. Eclipse would do best with another cat in the home because of how much love he has to give at all times. Even when he hated me for medicating him, he would purr and purr and never held a grudge. I really love him so much and I can’t wait for his day to come đŸ–€

Nikki girl went to be with her dad 💔🌈 Looking back, even though her bloodwork was ‘good’ last month, this cat never ate. She appeared healthy and happy with no clear signs of sickness, but the vet on Friday reminded me that cats hide things really well. She went downhill so fast and Nikki wasn’t Nikki anymore. It’s very cute that she knew her name so well because even feeling as weak and tired as she was, when I said NIKKI from across the house, she always popped her head up. She tried so hard to stay strong but it was clear she was done. We loved her so much and everyone who came in and met her, did as well. I’m glad I was able to hug her during her final moments. She knew she was loved.
