Giving Tuesday is an annual day to celebrate the gift of compassion and generosity of causes that people care about. It’s a chance for money to be raised so that causes may continue to make an impact.

This post however is not about money but rather to celebrate Giving Tuesday in the hopes that someone special will give the gift of compassion and generosity to a senior feline who is still desperately looking for her forever home. It’s her turn to be showered with love.

Sweet Morrissa is a beautiful healthy senior girl who was rescued after living outside a local TV station for 12 years. She is a true lap kitty who enjoys cuddling and sleeping with her foster mom! She will gently nudge your hand with her soft nose or paw to encourage more pets. Morrissa enjoys climbing on her cat tree and playing with her toys. She is looking for a quiet home, preferably by herself, where she can be doted on and enjoy her senior years in style!

She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Please reach out to us to schedule a time to meet Morrissa. Be the one to make the forever impact in Morrissa’s life.

It’s been four years since my girl Waters has been running free among the angels. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel her comforting presence all the while still running lead over my earthly pack

I didn’t know it back then on that fateful September 29th day of 2012, how much she would impact my life and how she inspired me to formalize my passion and start this rescue. I mean I’ve been helping cats in some capacity for the last 14 years when my firstborn Enzo showed up on my doorstep injured, but nothing like what the last four years have been.

I had finished at CrossFit. I was stopped at Derenne and Waters. She was across the street. Hunkered down. But out in the open. As I approached her, she stayed. She was dirty and skinny and couldn’t really straighten out her back legs to stand up. But she was grateful for the pets and food. Her eyes told of her sadness but I was in love. Owner of property approached me and asked if I would take her as she had spent her life getting beat up by other cats from down the street. I happily obliged. I didn’t have her long but I know now she had been waiting for me.

And so it began. Unknowingly. My love for helping those cats discarded. Abandoned. The weak. The injured. The ones who have run away from unforgiving humans. It’s a privilege to provide them an environment of love and safety. And ultimately, to trust humans again.

There are many of us out there doing this work we call rescue. Not for money. Not for attention. Not because we have time on our hands. But simply to help these kitties have a better life whether it’s TNVR or bringing them inside to find their real forever home.

Thank you to all of you that are doing this work. Thank you to those that have adopted from Waters Cat Rescue and before that. I know Waters guides me and keeps this all in perspective. And I finally realize, change is happening all around us and that embracing change is the best path forward even if it’s not clear or unknown.

Our rambunctious yet chill boy Brio went home last week with his BFF wrestling buddy Benny!

This sweet guy was dumped late March in one of our cat colonies that we manage; hiding under some bushes and meowing very loudly to make sure he didn’t get left behind. AGAIN. He was about eight weeks old when rescued which has not stopped him from being the life of the party! He was graciously fostered by where he learned his best wrestling moves on his foster felines and doggies. We are so excited he has a new brother to enjoy life with! Congratulations Brio!

Sweet sisters Nova and Nori were adopted last week after only two short days! These girls have settled in beautifully to their new home and are already enjoying cuddles with their humans.

It is important to understand their backstory. In March 2022, Nova and Nori (their former names have intentionally been omitted), were adopted from our rescue. They were five months old. After more than four months, they were returned to us because they were lap kitties and too affectionate. In the way while doing projects on the floor. Their previous owners thought they would outgrow these behaviors. While we understand that life happens, it is important to remember that pet adoption is a lifelong commitment. A kitty’s personality may change once it becomes comfortable in a home with its humans and it’s our expectation that their humans will be accommodating to them.

We are thrilled that Nova and Nori have found their furever home! Girls, the best is yet to come!

Adoption Spotlight!

Sweet boy Lincoln was another one rescued from the streets of Savannah after neighbors contacted a local rescuer. After spending about two months in foster getting love and care, Lincoln found his furever home!

Here is his story direct from his rescuer/foster:

“He was described as a tiny, affectionate kitten who was going from house to house looking for hugs or food.

No one could or would take him.

The two guys who texted me said, "tiny kitten, we can't bring him in, we don't want another flea infestation but he's really affectionate."

One of the guys put him in the trap & ordered neuter vouchers and said come get.

No one wanted responsibility for him.”

Happy 1 Year Adoption Pearl!

We received the following message from Pearl’s human family!

“Hi Jimi! It’s Pearl’s adoption anniversary today (July 27), so she wanted to let you know that she is happy (and silly). She’s the youngest and smallest member of the pack but is 100% in charge. Thank you so much for helping us bring her home!”

Remember Pearl’s story back in December 2020, when she escaped from her previous owner immediately following spay surgery with a cone still around her neck. At the time, our rescue did not know that a buckle collar was interlaced with the cone making it extremely difficult for her to eat and drink. Our rescue worked continuously for 129 days to trap Pearl and get her the medical attention she needed to nurse her back to health and get her ready for adoption.

Sweet girl Callie went to her furever home earlier this week and has quickly made herself at home. Her new mom shared that she is exploring her new home, playing with toys and getting along great with her three feline siblings. She even spent her first night snuggled up on the bed!

Callie’s back story is that she was found malnourished and all alone in downtown Savannah. She was very shy and she still is but in an endearing way and she learned very quickly to trust her foster mom. That she was finally safe. Callie’s road to adoption could not have happened if it weren’t for fosters willing to open up their heart and home and time. We are so grateful for her foster mom!

Another Adoption Highlight!
Sweet boy Theo found his furever home 5 months after being rescued last Christmas from one of our managed colonies! Once inside, he was treated for an upper respiratory infection and ringworm. Theo spent several months with his patient foster because he was quite shy and unsure of humans. He did, however, love other cats and enjoyed being the little brother to his feline foster siblings. Once at Pounce Cat Cafe he adjusted quite well and loved playing with the other cats and kittens! We are so happy to share that Theo was adopted and will continue his role as little brother to his feline sibling Romeo who was adopted from us last December. In fact, Theo was rescued on the very same day that Romeo was adopted. Crazy, yet meant for them to be together! He has settled in nicely at his new home. He loves cuddling with his mama and Romeo and he also enjoys watching his mama when she works on art pieces. He knows that he is handsome because he is often caught admiring himself in the mirror! We wish you a lifetime of happiness sweet Theo!
